90% of humans will be taken advantage of by agents.

Give your agents a credit card? You’re asking for it.

We raised a $35M Series A to build Baselayer. Keep your agents submissive.

"conferences are a waste of money"

Just came back from my 6th money20/20 and never disagreed with anything more

We do 40-50x pipeline ROI. Every. Time.

Here’s how to kill it at conferences:

> host a happy hour. not a dinner. standing, not seated

> co-host with someone cooler than yhas 3 types: founders, customers, VCs

> always expect 20% of RSVPs to show up. anything above that is years of earned goodwill

> go out of your way to hand-invite people. if you don't have the halo yet, they won't come

> never spend more than $15-20K per conference

> if you're under Series B: sponsor the "thing," not the booth

> if you're over Series D and you don't have a booth, people will be concerned

> put together 3-5 mini things: a private lunch (6-8 people), a spontaneous drinks (8-20 people), the main event

> seat people correctly at lunch. you can leave wildly lasting impressions

> bring only 1-2 people you're trying to close to the intimate stuff

> if it's not picture-and-post worthy, you didn't get much

> just don't make it lame. if you aren't going to commit to quality, don't do it

> the two conference seasons are march-may and october-november. they are precious.

> book 10+ meetings on the calendar before you land

> then leave half the calendar empty. the best meetings are hallway collisions

> make 15-30 introductions every trip. real ones. highest ROI thing you'll ever do with your time

> most cold outbound is oversaturated and dead. the channel that works is showing up go to niche conferences if you have friends at respectable companies going. say yes by default

> network nodes compound 1+1+1+1^x

> the people you introduced at year 1 become your customers at year 4

> conferences turn into reunions 2-3x a year

> if no one is thinking about your company, nothing you do will feel cringe

> get over yourself, this is your job. just do it

> must be approved, not open invite

> hide the location until approved

> standing not sitting

> start time: 6.30 not 7.30

.@nicolenotdunn built our entire Agentic Identity Suite (KYA) from scratch and just landed @Baselayerhq a founding seat at the AEP consortium, the companies powering 1/3 of US commerce

The first open standard for verifying who’s behind an agent transaction

Agentic commerce is we. More from Nicole and the team soon!
Baselayer is now a founding member of the A-Comm Evidence Protocol (AEP) consortium.

AEP is an open standard for tamper-evident records of purchases made by AI agents.

When someone says their agent bought something they never approved, everyone in the chain checks the same is scaling fast. The evidence layer needs to scale with it.

.@Baselayerhq is powering the identity layer for @browserbase BELL

Personal agents just crossed 10M downloads in 40 days with Muse alone.

I use Instinct for literally everything, flights, translations, purchases.

These agents are about to spend real money, and Baselayer is it.
Introducing BELL, the complete OSS stack to build your own personal assistant.

@browserbase for browser infra
@eve by Vercel for harness
@thelinqapp for iMessage
@link by Stripe for payments

We're giving it $10,000 to make agentic payments, join the stream to spend our money.

My parents immigrated from Egypt and thought halloween was the weirdest American thing.

But me and my brother were obsessed.

So obviously the first party at the new @Baselayerhq office had to be halloween (!!)

.@money2020 had a huge focus on agents. But nobody asked who's liable when the agent buys the wrong thing?

And it's like watching a hot potato

→ An AI agent walks into a checkout
→ It has a wallet
→ It has spending limits and access to funds
→ It places an order
→ The business it paid was fake
→ The merchant says, the platform or the agent owner do not admit they were wrong

The infra for agents to pay is live

The infra for knowing who sent the agent is not

(Except for @Baselayerhq ‘s KYA)

agents making unauthorized moves inside bank accounts. a year ago people told me i was being dramatic about this

how's that going
SCOOP: Major U.S. banks are detecting unauthorized third-party AI agents inside customer accounts, including some attempting to take actions that appear to be independent of user instructions, sources told Axios.

The findings have alarmed banking executives, who are racing to restrict access to their systems as AI moves at a velocity faster than financial institutions can respond, multiple industry and bank executives told Axios.

Several banks are now preparing for worst-case and even “day after” scenarios, including how to rapidly secure or restore customer accounts if things go wrong, the people said.

Several bank executives told Axios they're struggling to distinguish between human users and AI agents. One executive said banks also struggle to determine whether agents are authorized by customers or potentially operating without their permission, more akin to rogue agent behavior.

Read my latest for Axios here: axios.com/2026/10/22/ai-…

You can verify that a business exists and still miss what’s going on

Sometimes it only gets interesting when you realize several other businesses are applying from the same address that day
Our CEO explains how customers spot suspicious applications across different businesses

“Something that some of our customers have noticed is that they’ll do it in address clusters”

“If they see a high velocity of requests from a similar address … immediately all the rest go to review”

You’re excited someone picked your startup

On the other side of that yes is someone hoping they won’t have to explain that decision to their boss in six months

Jensen says he wouldn’t start Nvidia again knowing what it would take

“Building a company and building NVIDIA turned out to have been a million times harder than I expected it to be"

I get it. If someone handed you the full list of problems you’d have to deal with before y talk yourself out of it

Instead you find out one at a time and figure it out

"how hard can it be?”

The most important technology problem of the next 5 years:

Creating a broadly accepted standard for agents to identify themselves to service providers, so that providers can adjust the way they interface with clients (as compared to human-based traffic).

In the interim (i.e., for the next 6 months), there will be a cat-and-mouse game that agents will play -- to circumvent detection and maintain their product's utility during this growth phase.

However, this will only be a stopgap and it will not be the terminal state of the world.
So in the last two days about half of my Muse use cases have vanished because the browser won’t do it any more. Are websites changing their policies? Bot detection???

Hot take: this metric stalls

Companies like Muse and Instinct will be the superior business model

Free agent with fees + ads

We give way more data to our agents than we ever did to social media
