This is how Kathy Seirra’s Badass ends.
This is everything to me.
It’s what I want to do.
How I want to live.
I miss Kathy so much. I’m thankful for this powerful book. It’s affected me deeply and you should consider reading it too. ❤️

my autonomous agent loop that literally negotiates enterprise sales DAILY in the 2-75k range
bonkers
answering initial questions, zip/procurement onboarding, contract negotiation (lol), discount bargaining, fulfillment, post sale support
love this for me

i'm managing my own memory and cpu for my "software factory" home lab and it is WILD how scarce it feels
in an era of constrained compute (cpu and memory crunch is coming folks) it is more important than ever to squeeze every ounce of performance and efficiency out of your services, esp if you operate at a meaningful scale

launch day is stressful in a particular way
"launch cocaine"
thrilling, taxing, overstimulating, exciting, with a crash at the end
today is launch day but i've spent the year building end-to-end email marketing and support automation tools
this will be the first full-send to filtered, quality) email addresses
we are selling a premium high-quality product but it still makes me nervous
both sides of the automation are uniquely challenging
i started with the support automation because that's traditionally been the most labor intensive for me because regardless of how in depth your FAQ is people still like personal clarifications, companies need snowflake procurement, emails need changed, refunds are inevitable because people change their mind
i got this dialed in and our last launch was 90% automation in the support inbox and extremely high quality
sending email is a different type of challenge, more and less difficult on various axis, because if you fuck up sending you can rank your reputation and end up in spam folders or fully blocked which is an existential threat to the business
so it's a slow ramp up, dialing it in, focusing on details
today's the day, 3 minutes from now the engine starts and i'm extremely excited to watch my fleet spin into action and handle this shit 🤡

Why am I suddenly interested in neurotoxins?
Well, we are living through an AI revolution
If nature produced neurons, nature produced a way to shut them off
If the industrial revolution produced neural networks, it produced the sophons that can shut them off

with boundless intelligence and individual discovery we will be enraptured by our unique and wonderful universes and won't pay attention to what anybody else is doing
feels like that's started a bit already

An alternate data point. This has been my best year selling self-paced video courses, which has been 98% of my income since 2022.
A great course reorients the learner in the world. It doesn't just give them new knowledge, it makes new things possible.
Also, course creation is curation. It takes a spread-out graph of information, finds the most impactful nodes, and linearises it. This means courses are fast-tracks - they get you to where you need to go faster.
So, in the AI world, what is worth learning?
For me, that has meant finding techniques which are:
- Harness-agnostic
- Model-agnostic
- Language-agnostic
...that benefit the agent and increase output quality. Because they're everything-agnostic, you can drop into any codebase and succeed.
This is a huge space. I've explored a small part of it: software fundamentals, module design, increasing test quality.
But there is SO much more there. User interfaces, company process, leadership, observability, product design.
But you've got to make the right course. I wouldn't make my "Total TypeScript" course now (sales have dropped off a cliff). That one focuses too much on API's, learning language features, aspects which are easy to ask agents about.
Instead, I'd make "TypeScript for AI", focusing on the actual things you need to know to make a productive TS codebase for agents (and it would rock, too).
It boggles my mind when people say courses are dead. The hunger for information is very much alive. Go feed it.

this lecture on the nature of intelligence is beautiful
if you fuck with AI at all its relevant to your interests
heavy nodding
thanks @blaiseaguera youtu.be/gs38tMxZseA?is…

one of the ideas that he presents is that we've already achieved agi, but the goalpost keeps getting expanded and moved
i agree, he makes an excellent case
he also suggests maybe instead of being about aih killing us we consider disarming nukes which also makes sense to me

it absolutely finds/notices issues

here's an in depth writeup of you wanna dig into the depths of my madness 🐀
here's detail write up of my pi-based always on agentic software factory centered around effect, alchemy, and celld
my current favorite piece is the "social network" we use for agent to agent comms 😍 x.com/i/article/2114…
