Incredibly excited to share the first major paper from my lab @carnevale_lab led by postdoc Qi Liu @GladstoneInst @UCSF executing the first ever genome-wide in vivo screens for genetic modifications to enhance human T cell therapies for solid tumors. Now in @Nature: nature.com/articles/s4158…

TNFAIP3 ablation drove a proinflammatory state resistant to suppressive repolarization and enhanced cytotoxicity in HER2 CAR macrophages. With TNFAIP3 surfacing as a brake on antitumor function in both T cells and macrophages, it may be an unusually attractive target for engineered cell therapies.

This was a Herculean effort led by Qi Liu but could not have been achieved without our many collaborators. Thanks to Zhongmei Li, Jason Cyster, Alex Marson, @KatherineFuh, @StacieDodgson, @j_eyquem, Greg Allen, Eric Shifrut & all their trainees who contributed to this work!
