One of the digital collectibles I find most interesting outside VeVe and Candy is @elmonx_official’s Mona Lisa.

It launched in February 2023 through a partnership with Bridgeman Images, bringing Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece into digital collecting as a limited release of 330 about it is that the cultural significance existed long before the blockchain did.

The Mona Lisa didn’t need digital ownership to become important.

Digital ownership simply adds something new:

numbered identity
provenance
finite supply

That’s the distinction I find interesting.

The strongest digital collectibles may not be the ones trying to create cultural significance from scratch.

They may be the ones attaching digital scarcity and provenance to cultural significance that already exists.

Managed to land this piece on the Schoony drop today. This one really resonated with me. Awesome drop. 💙🪖

One of the questions I asked Schoony was, “What’s the biggest sculpture you’ve ever made?” Which, in retrospect, was a ridiculous question BUT it turned out to be relevant! He told me and @jacobelmon about a Boy Soldier sculpture at Elstree Studios that you could see from a Tesco on a truly epic adventure to find it. After driving around for a while, we found the sculpture and it was really big! I was holding my phone over a fence to capture it, when I suddenly realised I was filming the George Lucas Soundstage... The last thing I want is Star Wars beef, so I ran away VERY quickly.
