And that’s a wrap! 🚀 The final session of the ISCB-SC × EMBL-EBI EduSearch Series with Ensembl brought our three-day genomics learning journey to a close with a deep dive into genetic variant analysis.
🔬 Session Platform — Using the Ensembl Variant Effect Predictor to Annotate and Explore Variants
Our speaker, Jorge Batista da Rocha (Ensembl Outreach Project Leader, EMBL-EBI), introduced participants to the Ensembl Variant Effect Predictor (VEP), demonstrating how genetic variants can be annotated and explored to better understand their potential effects on genes and biological processes.

From protein structures to biological function, Episode 2 of EduSearch was all about connecting the dots! 🧬✨

Here’s a glimpse of Episode 2 of the ISCB-SC × EMBL-EBI EduSearch Series with PDBe-KB, where our global bioinformatics community came together to explore the dscape. 🌍🔬

We were delighted to welcome Dr. Maxim Tsenkov, Ph.D. (EMBL-EBI)* for his session, “Harmonising Structure and Function: An Illumination of the Protein Landscape.” The session offered an opportunity to explore the relationship between protein structures and their biological functions, bringing structural bioinformatics into focus through the lens of AlphaFold and protein structure data.
