HISTORY IS LONGER THAN YOU THINK

no global leader alive has governed under a hard money standard. not one

will that always be true? i don’t think so

bitcoin disrupts — not by accident, but by design

Someone has been inscribing the same poem to the Bitcoin blockchain 26 times over the last two weeks.

"Thoughtless quartz clocks drift, while blocks stack, each a strict proof, the timechain keeps score."

@glxyresearch traced it to a single sender with ~0.327 BTC (~$26K) depositing to one custodial service over and over.

The service pays it back within hours, the sender re-deposits with the poem attached. 14 round trips so far, 5.22 BTC of gross volume on 0.327 BTC of principal.

The only leakage across 28 deposits is 8,015 sats (~$6.50) in mining fees. No laundering. Could be farming a volume metric, an integration test running in prod, or an agent handed a wallet and a reason to transact.
Someone has been repeatedly posting a short poem to the Bitcoin blockchain over the last 2 weeks and it caught our attention…

"Thoughtless quartz clocks drift, while blocks stack, each a strict proof, the timechain keeps score."

26 identical copies so far. What is it? 🤔

This man is incredible.

First, Kaylub Giamanco ran into his daughters’ school and killed a school shooter by himself.

Then he goes on TV to praise the unarmed teacher who put her life on the line to wrestle the shooter for his gun.

Both of them heroes.

At least 16 blue-chip issuers have opted out of OKX-ICE's tokenized stock platform on the NYSE, according to @intangiblecoins from @glxyresearch.

Microsoft, Apple, Google, Goldman Sachs, CoreWeave, and Broadcom are among those who objected.

The SEC's "innovation exemption" created a pathway for tokenized securities trading, but major companies are pushing back on having their stocks tokenized without their involvement.
In this week's edition: PHP patched two remote code execution bugs, at least 16 issuers opted out of OKX-ICE’s stock tokenization plans, and Solana activated Alpenglow on mainnet.

Alex Thorn on self-custody: the Coldcard exploit makes the case for multisig, with not one satoshi stolen from a multisig wallet

"This is a tough time to be relying on a company for your self custody. I think one of the big lessons has been the primacy and efficacy of multisig ng."

"Not one Satoshi was stolen in the Coldcard exploit from a multisig wallet. We can see that onchain when you spend coins. You reveal the entire script of the transaction that was holding them."

"I think probably, in my opinion, the best option if you're doing self custody is to use multisig. Multiple hardware wallets. You can use collaborative custody like Casa and Unchained and AnchorWatch."

"You're getting redundancy by having multiple signing devices rather than by storing a copy of the seed of the device."

"You screenshot your 12 word seed or 24 word seed. It's one of the first things that hackers look for if they break into an email account or a computer."

"We know all the possible words. They come from a dictionary of 4-BIP39. So it's very easy for them to just search for combinations of those words on your machine and instantly sweep your seed."

establishing jurisdiction over a crypto defendant because someone ran a node in a location unrelated to the defendant or his alleged victims is a stretch

surely SDNY is meant to find a victim or defendant in their jurisdiction, not a mere copy of the global ledger 🤔

I have had a great time joining many podcasts this year but this one with Alex Thorn at Galaxy was one of my favorites. We go deep into the merge of AI and digital assets and what the next year will look like as tokenization changes the world.

this “genesis block puzzle” has been solved. someone made a 2-of-2 multisig using weak entropy derived from data in satoshi’s genesis block, and people paid for hints until someone cracked it

the timechain is filled with strange wonders, artifacts, history, and even puzzles 🧩
After 55 days and 127 OP_RETURN messages between prospective solvers and the creator, this puzzle has been solved and the prize has been fully swept by the winner, earning him ~935k sats ($762).
