Whether or not they decompiled it or just pointed an AI at screenshots and said "go" is somewhat irrelevant to my point.
This is what I was talking about in my last video: what value will things have when a "Temu" version can emerge seemingly overnight? This repo is what, a week old?
@dangreenheck already mentioned this in a previous post: a lot of people just want "good enough".
And coding agents at roughly this level have been around for, what, maybe a month or two? Things are going to get weird.

This is the doom I predicted a few days ago, coming for Photoshop. A clean-room open-source reimplementation.
No prizes for guessing that they decompiled Photoshop to source code, processed that to some kind of non-code specification language, then fed the spec to an LLM with an instruction to generate Rust.
Adobe just got nuked. And closed source is dead, dead, dead.

@iced_coffee_dev This is my number one concern: as shorter, algorithmic, more disposable content has been the goal for platform holders in music/video/gaming, platform holders are creating the most fertile environment for shallow clones in every media format.

@Fearian I think people haven't realized yet that this may end with Netflix/Amazon/whoever just having an agent running full-time with the prompt "Make games", and a very weakened industry.

@iced_coffee_dev Aside from the validity of the "clean-room" label, whether clones like this are viable may depend on whether the creator/s have the commitment to maintain it long term. 2XKO is far above in quality compared to any AI game and it still failed because Riot gave up on it early.

@iced_coffee_dev photoshop needs to work with illustrator needs to work with indesign with after effects. the integration between them, and then sharing files between different creative houses... whatever temu version is going to nuke adobe has to make that seamless. plus all the plugins.
