Luckily, I’ve never been in a situation where splitting the bill has been this deep. I’ve never had to overthink it.
I actually love paying for dinner etc, with friends or a partner. Sometimes I’ll excuse myself, go to the front and leave my card with the restaurant. By the time we’re ready to leave, everything’s already been settled. No bill even comes to the table.
I have a separate card I use for things like this.
I enjoy doing it.
I find discussions about who pays for what a little tactless. It’s just not something that comes up in my circles or in my family.
For me, generosity should come naturally, from both sides, also you lose the beauty of a gesture if you expect things.
