Callowhill shows a couple new midrise buildings, pretty cool to see. I would really like to see this part of the city fill in and the Rail Park be finished! Imagine how good it would be with a wide pedestrian connection to Chinatown over the VSE

man the convention center and the VSE really killed this part of Chinatown. I really hope this stretch gets capped so the area gets stitched back together and these parking lots get filled in with Mixed Use

SEPTA is out here performing god damn miracles considering how starved for resources they've been for decades

you know, it really is pretty crazy that BART doesn't already go to San Jose. It's so close already, just like, finish it

Like... maybe I'm just being picky, but this is already an FRA-complaint heavy rail commuter / regional rail line. I don't think it's a great call to downgrade to LRVs. They're cool and definitely look great and will be an uplift in rider experience almost certainly though.
So the new Metra BEMUs look really nice, but am I crazy or should have have gone for the double-decker KISS? This has to be like, what, 1/5th the capacity of a Gallery Car consist? Maybe less? Also... put some wires up man I am really skeptical about Battery trains

this. The first step is getting more trains running. we need to rebuild the railroading expertise first. In time we'll continue to upgrade the corridor. It's also worth mentioning that this corridor is famously mountainous and slow - only way to truly increase speeds is tunnels.
A lot of responses about the length of the trip time
1. Itβs a fair criticism. The next step MUST be to increase the times. The end goal should be high speed rail
2. That being said, the convenience and relaxation the train brings warrants the extra few hours over driving

will any of the revenue from this new Skill Games bill go towards funding transit? How much should I actually care

Once CoCo is up and running and is inevitably the ridership success it's shaping up to be, it will be the model for other state-supported Corridor Services. Everything from the expansion plans to the station locations and the development of TOD is really coming together here.
Commentary by Amit Bose and John Putnam: "CoCo demonstrates that the United States can take a strong corridor, assemble the right partners, put trains on tracks in a way that benefits passengers, and makes the system better over time."
