In @PunchbowlNews Midday: Lots of races still uncalled but House Ds are likely to hit 260 seats

That could be 46+ seat pick up...

In fact, we think the FLOOR for House Dems is 251 seats
They are positioned to clear 260, depending on how NC + CO shake out punchbowl.news/archive/11426-…

SCHUMER touting Democrats’ massive Senate victory in a presser at the DSCC this morning - noting majority could wind up at 55 or 56 seats

“Many of the folks who voted for us yesterday of course are still skeptical. That’s okay. These voters did not give us the majority so we could do whatever we want. They entrusted us with the majority to do what they, the American people, want”

Schumer vows to launch investigations anytime Trump defies the law or American people. And he declares a win for democracy

On this side of the morning, Huizenga (R-Mich) looks worse — down by more than 7,000 votes with 95% reporting, though still not called. Huizenga would be the third leader on the House Financial Services Committee to lose re-election tonight, behind Wagner (Mo.) and Steil (Wis.)
Just after 3 a.m. the Huizenga race has a margin of fewer than 800 votes

Last night was much more impressive than the 2006 and 2010 waves. the map that Jeffries/DCCC/HMP won on was much harder for them.

I asked him what the key was for Dems this year vs. his previous runs for senate and governor. He praised Talarico and Hinojosa, and tactics to drive voter turnout.

☀️AM: EXTINCTION-LEVEL EVENT FOR HILL GOP

This isn’t a blue wave or even a tsunami. Tuesday night’s midterm election was an extinction-level event for President Donald Trump’s party on Capitol Hill.

A diminished, lame-duck Trump now has to govern with a Democratic House and Senate for the last two years of his presidency. The 80-year-old Trump will face a rejuvenated Democratic Party that won gigantic majorities by running a nationwide referendum on a president and GOP leadership they see as economically inept, legislatively incompetent and morally bankrupt.

PLUS
- Democrats barrel through the red wall
- Can any House Republican leader win re-election? No one is safe. Can't imagine Johnson can make a case. Will be difficult for Scalise. Could we see an entirely new leadership with a 75-seat Dem majority?
- Schumer's big moment -- and Thune's plans. Will we get a lame-duck SCOTUS fight, given Rs are facing an uncertain Senate landscape for years to come.
- An rundown on the legislative risk for energy, defense, health care, tech, financial services, crypto, approps.
- Republicans' gerrymander completely fails. They lost every redrawn seat in America.

The crypto super PAC network Fairshake couldn't kill Brown again and the industry didn't bother to spend a dollar helping any other Senate Democrats this cycle. The industry's agenda is dead in the Senate for I don't even know how long.

Progressives still have their issues with him, but Chuck Schumer redeemed himself tonight. Schumer repeatedly said winning back the Senate was his “north star,” a refrain that often served as a deflection from the criticism from the left

Brown was one of Schumer’s top recruits
All-but solidifies Democrats’ Senate majority.

Brown has to run again in two years since this was a special election to fill the remainder of JD Vance’s term.

Brown was also a massive recruiting coup for Chuck Schumer.

Two weeks ago, Speaker Mike Johnson said this about Dems getting to 230 seats:

“I want you to record that I am laughing out loud about that,” he said. “That is nonsense.”

“Them projecting 230 seats is hilarious. There’s no way. I think that we hold the majority, but I think it’ll be a small one again. It’s just the reality of the map. But I believe we’re going to hold it.”’

That is the standard he will be held to.

Long way until the end of the night.
BREAKING- HUGE CALL: The Decision Desk has released the U.S. House model. NBC News estimates that the Democratic party will win 244 seats.
