The only thing worse than no regulation, is bad regulation. This @WSJopinion piece really nails what the frontier labs are doing. It's all about regulatory capture: wsj.com/opinion/the-hi…

Three things that stuck with me from @bgurley at the JSV Book Club:
1. When you're fascinated, the learning is free.
2. Go to the epicenter.
3. Embrace your peers. Careers are infinite games.

Anyone hoping to find their dream job owes a tremendous debt of gratitude to @bgurley for the time and effort he put into Runnin' Down a Dream.
The principles he articulates are career gold for anyone, but especially for those just coming out of the starting blocks.

A keen observation that extends far beyond Apple's launch events. Without Jony Ive, Apple's entire design esthetic feels like an AI generated derivative flat and missing the charisma of the original.
Apple's iPhone 15 reveal follows a familiar script, missing the magnetic pull of Jobs-era launches. While the tech wows, the charisma wanes! Some thoughts about the iPhone event

As a father of four boys, I find this development incredibly distressing.
I am more than a bit concerned with the sudden turn of all sports leagues into gambling advocates. I'm fine with sports betting, but the hard push to get young men into betting to supplement their love of the game will have societal fallout in a bad way.

According to @WSJ, Instacart will IPO at $8.6B to $9.3B, less than 3x Cornershop’s $3.1B when @ALLVP_ et al exited to Uber in 2021.
It took Instacart 11 years and $2.9B to get here. For Cornershop, 7 years and $290M to get there.
Valuation multiples have gone down... by a mile. nd Chaq started in Latin America with the inspiration of Instacart will always stand out as one of the best startup executions in the world.
A relentless focus on the customer, shopper, and retailer's experience with a software-first approach to every problem. A no-BS, ambitious, scrappy, and fun internal culture. This team created tons of value as shown by the valuation per employee @CBinsights.
Instacart's IPO is a reminder that great tech companies have been built in Latin America. And great companies in the region are as good if not better than the gold standard.
