Prayers rise from Jordan as the crowd chants “Ave Maria,” remembering the nine martyrs and praying for the injured and all families affected by the church attack.
Nine people were killed and 40 injured when gunmen opened fire during a funeral at St. George’s Greek Orthodox , on October 23. The victims’ funerals will take place tomorrow, Sunday, October 25.
Please pray for the eternal rest of our nine martyrs, the healing of the injured, and strength and comfort for all the families affected. May God be close to them as they prepare to lay their loved ones to rest. 🇯🇴🙏

To understand how religion-blind Jordan is, I have seen messages of friends of the victims not even knowing their friends were Christian. Jordanian society not only is not interested to know if one is Muslim or Christian, in fact it is seen as vulgar to ask one’s religion. That tack is totally alien to Jordan. This is an, indisputable, fact.
ISIS, like Al Qaeda like MB are ideologies that are totally alien to Jordan and the Levant in general. But perhaps Jordan more than any other country, has maintained social cohesion and where one’s religion is something personal, and churches and mosques are open to all. Christmas is a national holiday as is Eid.
