Good software doesn't have to come with a monthly bill.

We're building the tools we want to use, making them available for free, and figuring out the rest along the way.

No grand promises. Just software.

PostgreSQL and Redis in the same project? You can work with both in Lily.

It's free on macOS. Try it with something you're already working on.

The sweet sweet @NativeScript addiction 🤣
We just released vue-router-ns v0.1.0-rc.2! 🎉

I've been awake for almost two days working on @NativeScript projects. I know, I seriously need some sleep 😂 But man, I'm having so much fun with this.
One thing I really enjoy when building a library is creating actual apps to it. Not just small demos, but something that really puts everything to the test.
So I built this Airbnb-inspired app using @VueNativeScript and vue-router-ns.

Native tabs with independent navigation stacks, zoom transitions, long-press previews, sheets, back gestures, navigation restoration... all coordinated through the router, using native components from NativeScript, UIKit and Material.
And I have to say, I'm really happy with how it turned out.
The whole point of vue-router-ns has always been to make building native apps with @vuejs feel natural, without giving up what makes native navigation so good.
We're not even at v1 yet, and there's still plenty to improve, test and probably break along the way haha.

But seeing things like this actually working is what makes all those hours worth it.

Really proud of this little project. ❤️

I've been having way too much fun building little apps just to see how far I can push Jolt 😂

One of the latest things I've been playing with is gradients. @NativeScript 's CSS only supports static linear gradients, so I added gradient() to Jolt. Native linear, radial and conic gradients, with animatable colors, stops, angles, centers, radius... you name it. And of course, I had to build a bunch of demos to play with it haha.

A few people have asked me if the goal is to make Jolt "better" than React Native's Reanimated.

And honestly, that was never the plan.

I actually come from native development. Objective-C, Swift, Java, Kotlin... Then, somewhere around 2015, I discovered NativeScript and absolutely fell in love with it.

I've worked a lot with React Native, Flutter and other technologies over the years, and I genuinely enjoy them too.

But @NativeScript has always had a special place in my heart. I just want to see it get better and better. And if I can build something that makes developers' lives easier, especially those who think NS is too "verbose" (it's really not 😅), then I'm happy to do it.

That being said...

I'm enjoying how Jolt is turning out so much that I'm starting to feel like picking a fight with Reanimated 😂😂

Just kidding. Or am I? 👀

Still a long way to go, but man, this has been fun.

Can't wait to share the next demos. There's some really cool stuff coming!

I've been spending a lot of my free time playing around with Jolt and vue-router-ns, and I finally have something I'm really excited to share.
Everything you see here was built with @NativeScript /@VueNativeScript , Jolt for animations, and vue-router-ns for navigation.

I wanted a bit further and see how smooth and performant I could make a real app.
And here's something that genuinely surprised me...
I had already built this same app in React Native using Reanimated. Same computer, same simulator, and so far the @NativeScript version has actually performed better.

Now, before getting too excited, there's still A LOT to test, especially on real devices. I'm not claiming anything just yet. I want to properly measure things and understand how both versions behave.
Neither Jolt nor vue-router-ns has even reached v1 yet. There's still so much to build, fix, and improve, and I've been putting pretty much all my free time into them.

But man, seeing everything come together like this feels incredible.

I'm really proud of how far they've come, even if there's still a long way to go.
I'll keep sharing what I find as I run more tests. The good stuff, the bad stuff, all of it.

Just really happy right now. 😅❤️

Apparently, a third tab is a premium feature.

We went with a free database client and a dog. 🐾

Meet Lily DB.

Couldn't leave the Nuxt folks out 😅

vue-router-ns now has @vuejs Router-style config AND @nuxt_js style file routing in @NativeScript. Works with webpack and @vite_js , same native navigation underneath.

Thanks @getcortexlabs for the support! 🙌

Hey, we're Cortex Labs 👋

We build software we wish existed. Developer tools, AI, infrastructure, and a few ideas that got out of hand.

Most started because we needed them. So we built them.

Oh, and everything is free.
