There’s a 15-minute video over on my YouTube, Gavinski’s Tutorials, explaining why the Fugue Machine Rubato sequencer has, over the last two weeks, become one of my favourite apps ever. Runs standalone and as an AUv3 plugin inside suitable hosts on iPad, iPhone and Mac. It took to learning this properly but I have to agree with @peterkirn over at @cdmblogs that this app is a work of art. Hats off to the dev, @Alexandernaut

500+ of Chris Johnson’s Airwindows effects are now available in a single AUv3 plugin for iPad and iPhone (iOS/iPadOS 17+).
Totally free, open source, and MIT-licensed, with Chris having given permission for the Airwindows name to be used.
The fx are organised into categories, the plugin, and info about what each one does.
I have only tried a few of these but there are some gems - Glitchshifter, for example.
CREDITS
• DSP: Chris Johnson — airwindows.com and patreon.com/airwindows
• Consolidated registry: Paul Walker (baconpaul/airwin2rack)
• iPad port: Sveinbjörn Pálsson

Nice free drum machine plugin from All The Machines. UN/T-01, based on the 808.
Each of its six tracks is a synthesized 808 voice or a sample player, and you can load your own samples.

“What's New Compared to the Original
•Tune and Decay on almost every voice: also on the snare, clap and cowbell, which have neither on the original.
•Longer decays: the snare can ring far longer than the hardware ever could.
•Tone on the hi-hats, to make them darker or brighter.
•Velocity on every step, instead of the original's single accent level.
•Swing, which the original never had.
•Samples on any track, including your own.
•Effects built in: distortion, reverb, a compressor and a limiter.”

Number 2 in the US paid iPad Music App charts, not too shabby!
More Battuta 8 in action (Moog DFAM-inspired percussion synth AUv3 plugin for iPad, iPhone, Silicon Mac), love the raw sound.
I got a bit of automation going on some of the knobs, used the sqsl Strips app for that, and I’m using Rozeta Rhythm from the Bram Bos Rozeta Suite as a Battuta 8 also has its own built-in sequencer.
Battuta 8 walkthrough is up on my YouTube channel, this app is a future classic imo, link below.

I now have a pretty detailed spoken walkthrough up on YouTube on Battuta 8 for iPad, iPhone, Silicon Mac, a $9 AUv3 plugin based on the Moog DFAM. Gotta say, I really like this, it’s nasty in the best possible sense of the word!

I first heard this on John Peel, as a schoolboy. I was recording the show one night, caught this track and immediately fell in love with it. French Disko ended up on quite a few mixtapes I made in the years after.

1993. Stereolab’s "French Disko" remains a flawless masterpiece. During the rise of Britpop, Stereolab brought a different, effortless energy. Laetitia’s uber cool French-English vocals. The climactic build and release of the guitars. A defiantly intellectual & infectious pop indiresistance! 🇫🇷

ABDCTN (“Abduction”) Synth by Laszlo Dobrovolszki (055U4RY Synth dev). This is fun, very characterful sound, and it’s even MPE. Runs standalone and as an AUv3 plugin on iPad, iPhone and Silicon Mac.
Comes with 24 presets focused on the kind of sounds you’d have found in old ies. Towards the end you see me “playing” the filter directly by manipulating the alien’s head and arms.
Spoken walkthrough explaining all the controls, and with clickable links, is over on my YouTube channel, Gavinski’s Tutorials, links below.

This is a really great article from Chris Randall at Audio Damage pointing out, with typical eloquence, some of the issues that the tsunami of vibe coded plugins is causing.
3 minute read, worth your time if you buy or make music plugins:

I downsized from a 13 inch to an 11 inch iPad last month. Although I miss the extra screen real estate at times when working in AUM (especially when dealing with plugins which don't resize well, a common problem), I've really grown to love the smaller and lighter form factor. I took out my old 13 inch today for the first time in over a month and it seems horrifically big and heavy in comparison.

M-VAVE FM-1 users!:
This iOS app called FM-Switch currently in open beta, swaps the firmware on an M-VAVE FM-1 synth over USB.
Should be a big time and money saver, a lot of folk had been buying multiple units so they could keep different firmware on each.
‘Browse 140+ nths, grooveboxes, games), read about each one, save them for offline use, and install them with a USB-C cable. M-VAVE's official V15 firmware comes with the app so you can always go back to that. If you're running M-VAVE's open firmware it can also save a copy of your projects and samples. Not affiliated with M-VAVE.”’
Test Flight link, no idea whether places are limited or when the release version is coming out, or whether it’ll be a paid or free app:
