Thinking about @dwarkesh_sp interview with Robert Caro, what is the most ambitious and satisfying work of nonfiction you've read? Mine is

in ways that are "not benchmarked"
- does not need emotional manipulation to do things
- diligent: not over eager to "do everything in one shot", leading to overall higher task success rate (with more steps)
some of what is good, hurt certain evals, so i hope they do not RL this away

gemini's reputation is such that i've never received more accusations of being paid to post this

Another cleaning revelation as an adult: I hate how instantly I can tell the vacuum has been run even when there's no carpet tracks

I've learned as an adult that if cleaning anything requires a lot of scrubbing you just don't have the right cleaner.

I appreciate this kind of honesty
I've glorified poverty and dilapidation largely because I've always assumed I'd be poor forever regardless of what I did. I figured I might as well learn to get enthusiastic about poverty, dysfunction, and obscurity if it was inevitable.
Now that I've escaped it, I ask myself: "What the hell do I do now?"
What do I actually want?
After years of training myself to "want" a poor life on the distant (rural) margins, now that I no longer have to do that I have no idea what it is that I actually want. Always, I've let my blackpilled perspective on my own station interrupt my ability to want anything. If it wasn't ultra-cheap, I simply forced myself to not want it, period.
Now? I could realistically make it work almost anywhere with careful planning. Could get into all sorts of businesses, try anything, make any number of interesting or edifying gambles or ventures... this is solely because of careful, anxiety-inducing levels of fiscal caution and extreme frugality.
If you've ever wondered why it is that I seem "all over the place," it's this exact thing. It's this combined with becoming a father and realizing that the dilapidation and poverty I've forced myself to "want" isn't actually what I want to give my kids.

This is an important and underrated dynamic. Having experienced a woman that's genuinely into you immediately kills your motivation for anything less.
@dyingscribeentire issue now
Average guys used to have no idea that their gfs or wives weren't super into them bc they were unaware of the maximum level of obsessive female devotion that was possible when they really love someone
But then women all posted ten million tiktoks about the lengths they went to for guys they liked a lot and now when guys see them doing less they realize she's not really into it

Why does a drive less than 20 minutes feel like nothing but a drive longer than 20 minutes is torture?

When I was a small child I didn't realize I watched the Brave Little Toaster movies in the completely wrong order until a couple years later.

Are the in-n-outs in Cali different? Because I've been there in multiple states and it's always 5/10
in-n-out isn’t overrated. I think non-Californians misunderstand us when we try to describe it. It’s a consistent 8/10 burger every single time you go and is better than any other fast food chain burger at the same price point. Yes 5 guys is *technically* better at 2x the price.

Yeah women are better at making "appealing profiles" is the difference lmao. What are you smoking I want some
Dating app studies are so funny because they reveal that women are so so much better at creating appealing profiles than men, who react to the imbalance by becoming delusional in their "preferences."

To add my two cents I've worked with half a dozen Indian Americans across two jobs and dated one for 10 months. Each one was competent, friendly, and hardworking and all earned their high salaries on merit.
@GemPoaster fwiw I don’t think there’s anything I could say that would move you but the right wing denying indian americans actually doing an exceptional job on many levels is encroaching on hyperwoke levels of untruth, and I believe truth prevails in this country blessed with free speech
