I've been quietly building a game for the past few years. and today it finally goes out the door! 🚀

Until recently, I had no idea what shape it would take. It turned into Starship Space Program: a Kerbal-like flight sim for Starship and Super Heavy. You fly the hops, hot tch on the tower, and on to orbit, with real orbital physics. Starbase is built from lidar, so the pads and the tower are exactly where they really are. Catching the booster in the chopsticks yourself is as good as it sounds.

It's an early alpha, and that's the point: I want the people who love this stuff to shape what it becomes from here. Things will break. Tell me what does.

Link in the reply. Follow @programstarship for the updates.

(Starship Space Program is a working title. Not affiliated to SpaceX, Tesla, Or Take-Two).

We've never seen Starship activity moving this fast around Starbase. Not only vehicles for Flight 15, but Flight 16 too (we hope from Florida with a Starship catch in Texas). 🤯 It's freaking wild!

🚀 Almost double catch attempt time friends! 🥳

Two years ago I filmed this: the first time SpaceX ever caught a Super Heavy booster. 🔊 Sound on.

Flight 15 will try to catch the booster AND the ship. Jheny and I hope to be there for our baby's first launch (due in Feb).

We're $866 short. I book once road closures are out, donations pay me back, and if there's no trip, everyone's refunded: gofundme.com/f/our-babys-fi…

What's new:
2.4.3:
• Engine-bay ceiling over the Raptors
• Rebaked heat shield, with clean tile edges
• Starlinks stay in orbit through the deorbit burn
• No more "–" or "-0.0" readouts after liftoff
• Smoother free-camera exits, no cloud seam at the date line
2.4.2:
• Readings no longer drop out on glitches (Flight 14's entry speed is back)
• Full windward entry plasma, no flicker
• New forward and aft flap cameras
• Lost vehicles fly through the explosion, and impacts stop on the water
• Fixed climb profiles on Flights 1, 4, 8 and 9

Updates, from 2.0.3 to 2.4.1 (current):

Models and pad
- New Starship, Super Heavy and Starlink V3 models
- New tower model, the chopsticks catch the booster centred
- The ship's payload door opens on the model itself
- Ship sits on the hot-staging ring, no gap
- Clean X logo on the ship, no more black or washed-out box
- Hull no longer shimmers far from the pad

Liftoff
- Replay starts at T-10, clock waits for the 3D to load, drone shot frames the whole stack
- Clean liftoff off the deck: no dip into the mount, no wobble, no surge
- Ship QD arm plugs straight into the hull, lets go at T-9.5, pulls straight back, swings away from the tower fast at liftoff
- Chopsticks wide open at the top of the tower for launch, catches up there too
- Pad camera shake no longer jitters at high playback speed

Flight path and attitude
- Smoother climb, no swing in the path around max-Q
- Vehicles point along their path through climb, staging, burns and coasts
- Burns prograde or retrograde from the measured speed change
- Booster flips for boostback inside the real staging gap
- Roll read off the webcast from liftoff to entry, heat shield across the track
- Flight 14: leeward side to the Earth for stage sep from T+1:40, ship rolls back at T+5:15
- Flaps deployed at liftoff and through the climb, working through entry, belly flop and landing flip
- Grid fins steer in the descent and landing burn
- Flight 14's orbit: camera and pitch no longer flip past the far side of the Earth
- Flight 12's booster hits the water at ~400 m/s, as it did, not a splashdown

Satellite deploys
- Ship nose up or down as the webcast's attitude gauge shows
- Starlinks come out of the door slot backwards, against the direction of flight, flat and steady, no tumbling

Cameras
- Webcast view with a director cutting between shots, or pick one: tracker, pad, tower, drone, buoy, ship hull, payload bay, engine bay, booster grid fin, chine and engine cameras
- Onboard cameras where Flight 14's are, none on the heat shield
- Orbit camera: around the vehicle, pan along it, zoom out to the whole Earth and back

Visuals
- Mach-coloured shock layer and wake on entry
- Real water: waves, whitecaps, sky reflection, sun glitter, engine light on the sea
- Vehicle shadows on the ground and water anywhere
- Better night exposure and engine glow
- Event gates: rings on the path with each event's name and time
- No more lines drawn on the ground, planned path in white
- Settings > Show in 3D: hide paths, coasts, gates or labels

HUD
- Orientation dials with the booster and ship silhouettes
- Readouts no longer jiggle
- Flight 14's burns named as on its milestone list, payload deploy on the timeline
- Version number in the footer and Settings

Since I had all that telemetry data lying around, and also all that code from StarshipSpaceProgram, I figured why shouldn't I put 1 and 1 together? so here it is, and FREE for all. Starship webcasts' telemetry visualization. Runs on browser!

There's a lot of margin for know what you think!

Also gotta mention, didn't expect this much love for a side project 🥹 thanks @MarcusHouse (as always!) and @TrentTelenko for sharing it!

it stays free, always. if you want to give something back: Jheny and I are trying to make it to Flight 15 before our baby arrives in February. nothing's certain yet, and if the trip doesn't happen everyone gets refunded. even $5 helps 🙏

I'm very happy you guys liked it! It was made possible with all the research I've made for the development of @programstarship . So if sometime you want to fly it, not just watch it, check out Starship Space Program @ starshipspageprogram.com: hot staging, booster + ship chopstick catches, a new Daily Catch every day. Early alpha out now on Patreon (Win/Mac) 👇

Booster 22 just lit up Pad 2 at Starbase this morning 🔥 and Flight 15 is going to try to catch BOTH the booster and the ship.

I couldn't wait, so I've been doing exactly that in my game 😅

Starship Space Program is a fan-made Starship + Super Heavy spaceflight sim I'm building ersion 0.2.0 of the early alpha is out now for patrons:

⏱️ NEW: a real countdown, webcast-style UI and the full Pad 2 tower launch sequence, with new engine plumes
🚀 Low-altitude hops and high-altitude test flights
🔥 Hot staging on the way up
🥢 Super Heavy AND Ship catches on the tower
🎓 Flight School and challenges with medals, plus a new Daily Catch every day
🌍 Low Earth orbit and interplanetary flight planners (Moon and Mars landings come later)
📸 Replays, photo mode, save and load anywhere

It's an early alpha, so things will break and change, and what you tell me shapes what comes next.
