Rails + AI models, which to use?
Claude Opus 4.5 is slightly more accurate and less expensive than Fable, although a tad slower. However, you can get essentially the same results with Kimi K3 for almost half the price.
We know this because we worked with @rails to benchmark the models against 21 atomic tasks and evals.
This project gave us the amazing opportunity to work hand in hand with @AmandaBPerino and the Rails Foundation on the creative task of building Rails-centric LLM benchmarking.
But also, this helps move the ecosystem forward and hopefully allows the community to keep ideating with Rails.
Congrats to @skryukov_dev and Artur Petrov for their work on this!

Recently, I released a new version of typed-channel. For those who haven’t heard of it before, it’s a small library that simplifies communication between different realms (and not only!) in your application.
The new version introduces a Requests API, so now you can wait for responses without writing any extra code.
Read more about it in my new article!

typed-channel makes postMessage type-safe in ~350 bytes. Define message names and payload types once, and TypeScript checks them on both sides. The same code works for Web Workers, iframes, tabs, and in-page event buses. v0.11 adds cancelable requests, and canceling stops the worker too: evilmartians.com/chronicles/how…

The Ruby community describes @sfrubyconf as a “future-oriented” conference. That was the intention all along. 💎
If we get the people building interesting things with Ruby, Rails, and agents in the same room, we can have the important conversations that move the ecosystem forward.
Every speaker was hand-picked with that goal in mind. That's how we found @jasonmarkthomas, who’s behind COSMOS, the Ruby stack used to build, test, and fly satellites.
If you want to hear Ruby and Rails success stories, meet future teammates, and get inspired, come to the conference. There are only a few days left to get tickets, and we’ve hidden a secret discount in this article: evilmartians.com/chronicles/why…

Talk is cheap and so is code.
@yurimikhin wrote ten checks to pass on AI-generated code. These make it safer to trust, faster to review, and harder to let decay go unnoticed.
Rita Klubochkina turned those checks into an agent skill set and we tested it on our website. The skill ships only the ones your codebase needs one PR at a time. Find it here: evilmartians.com/chronicles/ten…

.@browsercompany @joshm is sunsetting Arc and says Dia is the ideal replacement. I disagree. Arc is a labor of love and design craft, and I enjoy using it every day. Dia, on the other hand, lacks that design love, and I’m not sure why.
Here’s 6+ things where Arc is still better than Dia

You can rank #1 on Google and be completely invisible to AI agents. I updated my llms-visibility skill (forked from @evilmartians) to verify your site actually passes – now aligned with @agentreadyorg.

Agents on @rails is the Rails Foundation's LLM benchmark. Evil Martians designed its evaluation tasks and the tooling to run trials at scale. Now, we're going behind the scenes. First: how we wrote black-box checks for apps whose code we'd never seen, to keep trials fair and results reliable. Bonus: the same evals run against Rust. evilmartians.com/chronicles/the…

RubyLLM being the #4 most-loved gem on the Ruby on Rails Community Survey this year leaves an incredible feeling.
Thanks to everyone who wrote it in. I hope RubyLLM gives you some of the same enjoyment that brought me back to Ruby.

Laravel is an opinionated, batteries-included framework for developers and agents. Rubyists admire it, and so do we. That’s why we’re happy to have @laravel as a sponsor this year.
Like us, the Laravel team is working hard to support the future of ambitious builders. Come say rence!

All our engineers are encouraged to write technical content for the blog, which then powers most of our marketing strategy.
This makes all the difference for us. Hundreds of thousands of people read our blog every year and trust our team enough to do business with us.
We’re rated the top blog in @planetargon’s 2026 Ruby on Rails Community Survey. Thanks to everyone who reads us, and to @travis____t for leading the blog! ♥️
P.S. @sfrubyconf also made the list of the top ten conferences Rubyists plan to attend this year. How exciting!
