On relevait 1014 hPa ce jeudi matin, 1011 hPa en ce début d'après-midi et on prévoit 990 hPa en milieu de nuit lorsque la pointe sud-ouest de l'Angleterre (Les Cornouailles🏴).📉Une chute rapide et importante qui traduit un creusement dit "explosif".

It was exciting to join the European Organization for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT) @eumetsat this morning to present on a topic in their European Meteorological Training (EUMeTrain) @EUMeTrain “Event Week”.
Tropical #meteorology was the focus for the es and my presentation was schedule for this morning: #Hurricane Ian: A Case for Impact-Based, Probabilistic Decision Support Services for Emergency Management and Public Safety.
EUMeTrain is EUMETSAT's largest international training project for the development of training material and training support in the field of satellite meteorology and consists of the national meteorological services of Croatia, Finland, Germany, Portugal and Hungary, led by Austria.

🌍 Strengthening Africa’s Early Warning Systems Through Satellite Technology
Today, I had the honour of delivering the opening statement at the 17th @eumetsat User Forum in Africa, here in Manzini, Kingdom of Eswatini.
I emphasised the critical role of Earth Observation, nd climate services in strengthening Africa’s resilience to climate change, improving weather forecasting and ensuring that early warnings reach communities before disasters strike.
Over the past two decades, our Africa–Europe partnership has made significant progress through initiatives such as PUMA, AMESD, MESA, ClimSA, GMES&Africa, and SEWA. I was pleased to highlight that, with support from the European Union under @AucClimsa , PUMA and ClimSA Climate Stations have now been installed in 48 of the 49 intended countries, alongside Regional Training Centres, Regional Climate Centres and partner institutions.
As we confront the potential impacts of the 2026/2027 El Niño, I called for sustained financial and technical support, upgraded observation systems, accelerated technology transfer and stronger African-led research and innovation.
We must ensure that the investments we make in satellite technology and climate services translate into timely, actionable information for the communities, farmers and decision-makers who need it most.
I urged delegates to keep the people we serve at the heart of our deliberations as we strengthen the Africa–Europe partnership for climate resilience, disaster preparedness and sustainable development.
