Rupert Lowe is not a politician. He is a very expensive and elaborately dressed form of electoral sabotage, whose sole discernible purpose is to ensure that Nigel Farage never gets near power.

While he busies himself with this noble enterprise, Restore Britain will have thoughtfully cleared the path for the most ambitious socialist government this country has endured since the last one, complete with open borders, a welfare state that could bankrupt a small planet, and a permanent electoral majority of people who correctly identify them as the people who will keep paying for it.

And when the job is done and the country is satisfactorily unrecognisable, Mr Lowe will collect his family, his pension, and whatever is left of his principles, and depart for somewhere with better weather and fewer consequences. A man of principle, in other words, provided the principle is that he does not have to live with the results.
