When the oven clock — the only clock in the house that doesn’t automatically update — gets you and you wake up the house an hour early to get ready for church… Sorry! 🫣

"School districts are not stopped from discriminating against transfer applicants based on their ability or disability. The law does not require school districts to inform rejected applicants why they were denied in writing."

Recommendations: Require all districts to participate in cross- or within-district open enrollment. Require districts to post their available capacity by grade level on their websites. Make public schools open to all students regardless of ability or disability.

Sigh. Another day, another need to remind people that parents—not the government—are better judges of educational “quality” when it comes to meeting their kid’s needs. #schoolchoice #laed #lagov

“Critics predicted that, once private school choice was implemented on a large scale, students with disabilities would become highly concentrated in the public school system. That hasn’t happened.” #lalege
REPORT ALERT: My co-authors & I report that, nationally, more than a quarter of a million students with disabilities (SWDs) participate in a private #SchoolChoice program, representing 15.5-17.2% of all choice students, a rate higher than the representation of SWDs in district-run public schools. aei.org/research-produ…

In this newly released report, Louisiana drops in Education Choice due to #lalege's refusal to adequately fund LA GATOR. Now's not the time to go backwards -- Louisiana's kids, families, and economy need progress! Let's get this done! #schoolchoice #lagov #whynotus

Louisiana contributes toward the cost of public education through a state-local partnership funding formula. But is it the job of the state to set salary minimums for local govt employees? #lalege #lagov louisianafirstnews.com/news/louisiana…

We all love these increasing stats, right? They mean real progress for Louisiana’s people. How do we sustain and accelerate the momentum? By being intentional — public policy matters. Let’s get to it.

“Instead of asking why students leave public education, leaders are asking how public education can evolve to better meet changing family expectations.”

This is leadership, and its connection to school finance—think MFP reform—is strong.

👏 Bravo! Heartwarming Louisiana student-led fundraiser to help their peers access an education that fits their needs. If only there was a FUNDED state program to achieve the same… 🐊

Not a good projection for #louisiana to sustain all the great economic development projects recently announced. Time to double down on enabling EVERY child to reach his or her full potential and build a top notch workforce. #lalege #lagov

There’s good stuff in here, inc what many tech companies were planning already, but let’s not forget: PARENTS have both the right and responsibility to monitor and guide their kids online — and to inform the market of what help they need. thecentersquare.com/louisiana/arti…

If kids are on their phones too much…using their phones while at school…on their phones at night…getting too caught up in who is “liking” their posts…TAKE THE DANG PHONE AWAY. You’re the parent! It’s not the tech company’s job — or the government’s — to do that.
