Markets don’t close on Liquid. Here’s your Saturday update.
Crypto-linked names are leading the retreat with $BTC falling below $80,000 and weakness stretching across the crypto equity complex. $MSTR is down 3.03%, while $BMNR and $CRCL are both more than 2.5% lower. $COIN and below Friday’s closes.
AI infrastructure remains another pocket of weakness. Optical networking names $COHR and $AAOI are down roughly 2%, alongside cloud operators $SHAZ and $NBIS. Memory and storage contracts are also lower, with $SNDK underperforming $WDC, $STX and $MU. $NVDA, meanwhile, is holding close to flat.
There are pockets of strength. Brazil exposure through $EWZ leads the gainers as the country prepares for a runoff election on Sunday, while $MRNA, $MELI and $TTWO are also higher.
Energy is holding up: WTI is above $103, with $CVX and $XLE trading above Friday’s closes.
The weekend’s political headlines are adding another layer of uncertainty:
> Brazil heads into Sunday’s runoff with Lula and Flávio Bolsonaro locked in a tight race, per Reuters.
> The US has ordered some diplomats and family members to leave Saudi Arabia amid Houthi attacks, per Reuters.
> France faces fresh protests, with authorities bracing for renewed violence and looting, per Bloomberg.
Next week brings a major test for the AI trade. $MSFT and $GOOGL report Wednesday, alongside the Fed decision.
Thursday brings $AMZN earnings, US GDP and PCE inflation.
