OTD in 1654, the overseers of Harvard College accepted the resignation of its first president, Henry Dunster, following his public rejection of infant baptism.

Dunster had served as Harvard's president since 1640 and helped establish the young college as a leading institution of onial America. However, his growing conviction that baptism should be reserved for professing believers brought him into conflict with Massachusetts' Puritan religious establishment.

His refusal to remain silent about his beliefs ultimately cost him his position at Harvard.

Although Dunster never formally joined a Baptist church, his convictions on baptism made him an important early figure in the history of Baptist beliefs in colonial America.

Great move. This serves the church well by allowing pastors to continue serving their churches while studying. The modular PhD was a huge blessing to me, but now it has even more concentration options.
Beginning in Fall 2027, every concentration in Southern Seminary’s PhD program will be offered in a modular format.

As Dr. Mohler explains, this change comes straight from Southern’s founding vision. From the beginning, the seminary has aimed to offer the highest level of in service of the church, and to make that scholarship as accessible as possible. The modular PhD lets us do both. A pastor can come to campus, complete two seminars in a single week, and be home to preach on Sunday. A student preparing for the classroom pursues the same degree, under the same standard, for the same purpose: to strengthen the church.

The church deserves the very best, and that includes pastors and scholars who have received the very best theological training. See the link in the caption for the full announcement.

I don’t k ow this brother, but this is solid wisdom!
After 25 years in 1 pulpit, what would I tell a young preacher? A 🧵(in no particular order):

1) Ignore the numbers and connect with your people. Don’t obsess about growth. Don’t apologize for who isn’t there when your friends visit. Minister to what’s in front of you. 👇

Graveyards are filled with irreplaceable leaders, and Christian history is full of irreplaceable institutions.

There was only one truly irreplaceable man. His grave is empty, and he’s still building the only truly irreplaceable institution.

“When retrieving the tion to gaze backward at what used to be and to long for a time machine. But in God’s providence, we live in the here and now, so retrieval should be a longing to learn from―not return to―the past. I am grateful for this providence-respecting book that draws from the past to serve the church today.”

The Path to the Pulpit: Four Ancient Questions for Faithful Preaching by Andrew Hébert and Mitchell L. Chase is available now!

Faithful preaching begins with faithful interpretation of God’s Word. In The Path to the Pulpit, Andrew Hébert and Mitchell L. Chase draw from the rich terpretation to offer pastors and ministers a practical framework for sermon preparation. The authors guide preachers through four essential questions: What does the text say? How does it connect to the gospel and exalt Christ? How does it shape me as a disciple? How does it stir hope for the future? By asking these questions, preachers can better understand the meaning of Scripture, see its connection to Christ, apply it to their own lives and congregations, and proclaim the hope found in God’s promises. This book offers a time-tested path from the biblical text to faithful proclamation.

Wait, I was wrong. With bama, its actually an 11-team SEC Circle of Chaos!

Since the SEC began in 1933, only 20 seasons have produced an 11-team circle.

And 2026 did it by Week 6, the earliest ever. Chaos!
