Independent photojournalist Angel Perez was tackled, handcuffed, and detained while covering demonstrations near the Metropolitan Detention Center.
Video shows officers at a No Kings protest chasing him and forcing him to the ground while other journalists identify him as ollowed instructions to move onto the sidewalk and repeatedly identified himself as a journalist. He suffered injuries and damaged equipment before he was released without being processed after 2 hours.
This isn't an isolated incident. There's a growing trend of law enforcement using aggressive tactics, kettling, and physical pushes against journalists during protests in the US.

How many were unaccompanied?
How many were sent under third-country deportation agreements?
And what safeguards ensured they were received safely?
The records don't answer those questions.
Meanwhile, The Marshall Project reports more than 22,000 child deportation events through August 6, 2026.
