although the prose continues to leave something to be desired, our automated weekly internal feature branch catchup zine remains a visual delight. this is by astra
in the face of accelerating dev rate, astra made a thing that tracks all our git repo (hazel.org) activity and produces a weekly digest on merges/issues/WIP targeted at contributors. its a bit slop, but beautiful slop

Been playing with taking data from Google Earth, processing it in Houdini, and running out photorealistc renders of distorted cityscapes.

wire ties possibly the single greatest ux innovation in nodes and noodles VPLs
okay, I did @ggsimm's wire-tie thing because that's the standard now right?

Yesterday I made a “plaything” for Igarashi et al.’s excellent SIGGRAPH 2005 paper, As-Rigid-As-Possible Shape Manipulation!
Works with a mouse, but it’s much more fun with multi-touch on an iPad.

Documenting a @FolkComputer program that's delighted me for the last few weeks:
+ started with our friend Josh asking about programs that can probe the pixels directly from the camera
+ led to these “marbles runs”
+ recently @itseieio made a version with nice gravity simulation

confession: i've yet to have that moment of feeling that frontier LLMs are geniuses, or super-human at ~anything broadly coherent that i deeply prize

i never ended up following up on this but this was absolutely just temporary psychosis / early model lifecycle vibes. fable was ofc a huge step up and opus 5.5 is better, but as i think we've all found even the most frontier models remain shockingly incoherent and myopic at times
i'm gonna be honest, i'm not super clear that i'm actually better at software architectural design than fable is
