Pretty happy with how this is turning out.
Trained a HAL 9000 TTS model and now hosting it locally on my server.
It's not perfect, but I can work on that.
Made a site to test the API endpoint.
CORS is a pain.
Next step, making a self-hosted HAL 9000 home assistant.🫠

Next week, I'm going to defend my PhD Dissertation:
"Hypervelocity Projectile Geometry for Impact Fusion Concepts".
My advisor is Dr. Jason Cassibry at The University of Alabama in Huntsville
If you are a Patron of Smarter Every Day, thank you so much. You made this d a special post inviting you to watch the PhD Defense via a livestream (assuming we don't have any technical glitches).
I'll reply to this tweet with a link to that post.

We need @DrAllyLouks to look into this mephitic miscreant.
While waiting for Volodymyr Zelenskyy, reporters are trying to solve a mystery:
Who keeps farting in the European Council press briefing room? 💨

Ender's Game.
Ukrainian-developed FPV drone simulator “Remote Reaper: FPV Drone” has officially left Early Access, with version 1.0 now available on Steam.
Developed in collaboration with military pilots, the simulator focuses on combat FPV drone operations and introduces several features in ding armored vehicles with modeled vulnerable zones, electronic warfare effects that can disrupt video feeds and control signals during the final stage of an attack, and a customizable drone editor.
Version 1.0 also adds configurable weather conditions, custom mission editing, real-time flights with other pilots and a racing mode.
Players can use FPV hardware or a gamepad with realistic flight physics, or opt for simplified controls using a keyboard and mouse.

If I were [insert a nation state], who is behind massive bot farms, I would totally kill my activity in-line with this so as to mask it.
So while I wouldn't put it past the Russians, it could just as easily be a controlled downtick from others.

‼️ BREAKING: Japan has handed Germany a 28-year-old Russian suspected of being a core member of the Qilin ransomware gang, after detaining him in late May while he was on a trip to Osaka.
He was extradited on Oct. 2 with Tokyo High Court approval and is suspected of extorting German logistics firm in Sept. 2024, The Asahi Shimbun reports.
Qilin is the group that claimed the 2025 attack on Asahi Group.

In just under 13 hours, @SpaceX launched a commercial payload, a defence payload, and a crew to the ISS.
The crew docked with the ISS before the last launch
They landed the first stages of the Falcon 9's and the two boosters of the Falcon Heavy.
That's one heck of a day.

‼️ BREAKING: A 16-year-old hacker broke into an internal Microsoft analytics service with a forged, unsigned login token and ran SQL as admin, reaching databases that held over 17 trillion rows, including Bing search analytics and 17,990 employee email records.
The service, very field on the token except its signature, so just claiming to be "admin" got him in, writes the researcher, who goes by Faav.
He says he only pulled metadata and two single rows of Bing data, never touched customer data, and reported the flaw to Microsoft the same night.
Microsoft locked the endpoint four days later, paid him $5,000, and had editorial control over his write-up, cutting sections and figures and reshaping how the impact was described before it went public.

This is just coming in: there appears to be a major fire on the upper floors of one of the towers of the World Trade Center in New York City.
Reports claim that a small plane, either a Cessna or a private jet, accidentally flew into the tower around the 80th floor, due to ontrol communications error or a malfunction on the aircraft.
The dozens of victims are in our thoughts. We will continue to monitor rescue and repair surrounding this alarming accident.

Those motorists didn't stand a chance.
Maybe roads should be in dugouts if they are within the potential overshoot of runways at major airports.
Or just roll EMAS out everywhere.
