Jupyverse, the FastAPI-based Jupyter server, now has a libghostty-based terminal emulator 🚀

The original goal is to allow reconnecting clients to recover the current terminal state, but who knows what it will unlock in the future!

Everybody talks about free-threaded Python but I'm mostly interested in thread-free Python so that it works in the browser 😄

AnyIO v4.16.0 is out 🚀
Among lots of bug fixes there is a new feature `BlockingPortal.call_async()` that allows code in one event loop to run a coroutine function in another thread's event loop and await its result (without blocking). That is multithreaded async programming!

It would be great if @MistralAI had a free plan for open-source developers, like OpenAI or Anthropic have.

@MistralAI Right now we're all helping improve OpenAI and Anthropic just by using them.

I guess mistral-vibe switching to Ratatui is not a good sign for Textual 😕

New release of jpterm which adds support for a CLI mode.
Jpterm is a TUI that aims to be JupyterLab in the terminal. But AI agents like using CLI tools.
You can now use jpterm to show document contents from the CLI. Next you'll be able to e.g. change a notebook cell, run it, etc.

Microverse is back!
It's a FastAPI-based Jupyter server that runs entirely in the browser.
Think of it as an alternative to JupyterLite where the server runs in the browser 🤯
It opens up new possibilities.

Try it online (wait for it, it's slow to start):

FastAPI now has built-in OpenTelemetry support, natively 📈

No extra code needed.

See how your app behaves in production.

Go and upgrade to "fastapi[standard]" version 0.142.2 ⬆️

AnyIO might be the single most underrated Python library: only 2.5k stars on GitHub but downloaded over a billion times per month on PyPI!

xtralab has been my daily driver for software development for the past few months.

It’s JupyterLab with opinionated defaults and pre-installed extensions for working with coding agents. I use it with Claude Code, Codex, and Pi most of the time.

Congratulations to the Mojo 1.0 release @Modular! So glad to have you in our community, and seeing @clattner_llvm on stage with `pixi` in the background was definitely a highlight for us.

AnyIO v4.15.0 is out 🚀
A ton of new features in this release:
- amap, gather, and as_completed functions to help manage task concurrency.
- a Future that mimics asyncio's.
With TaskHandle that allows awaiting the return value of a task, there is no reason to use asyncio anymore.

With JupyterLite deployments like notebook.link we need to have more code running in the browser. WASM already allows running kernels like Python, R, C++, Fortran... but we still need to go through the browser for remote access.
