Lula is losing votes in the rural areas compared to 2022, but is gaining bigly in urban and suburban areas compared to his prior election.

In the summer of 2000 I took a class at Boston University and was a few blocks away the night of a Pedro start. I didn’t have much money at the time obviously but checked on tickets — scalper quoted me $50 for a bleacher seat. I said no but still kind of regret it.
A legend was born on this day.

Happy birthday, @45PedroMartinez!

As of the past few weeks, debt markets have almost entirely shut off access to money for any company that doesn’t have substantial revenue independent of AI data centers.

SpaceX closed $40B of debt for GPUs, but we’re investment grade and have Starlink & launch revenue.

That means the 200+ neoclouds are going to see guppy-level death and consolidation. Some will make it through, but not many.

Feels like the endgame here is Netflix being dragged kicking and screaming into spending billions of dollars a year on sports rights.
New: Netflix users aren’t opening the app as many days a month as they used to.

Sources shared a couple internal metrics that underscore the company’s engagement challenge.

Big new demographic tool from the NYT — they find that between 2020-24 in Georgia, white voters shifted one percentage point towards Democrats while Black voters shifted 5 percentage points towards Republicans: nytimes.com/interactive/20…

Out of self-preservation, won’t this lead the academy to deemphasize computer science-adjacent research and focus more on human methods?
We obviously haven’t had the major jobs wipeout yet. But you read stuff like this. And you read what economics students themselves are saying about working with AI (ht @odavis_h) and it’s hard not to feel like the seismic shift is on its way.

Fun read from Dario. It does feel like the points finance guys have to make are more compelling now that we’re talking about external financing needs and credit spreads rather than Nvidia product cycles, HBM, and tokens.

He's asking for more than $700 million, which would be a record for a WNBA franchise.

Seeing a lot of confusion around Anthropic. This is **strictly** an explanation using SEC regulation and IPO norms. Ant could make its S-1 public by early/mid of next week and still be public before Thanksgiving, in line with our previous reporting of a launch the week of Nov 9 and pricing the week after.

A lot of folks speculating that today is make or break for a pre-Thanksgiving IPO which is not the case

We’re probably in the 8th inning of Georgia politics being metro Atlanta vs rural Georgia — at some point soonish infighting among metro Atlanta Dems probably leads to something new.

I’m not sure how many Knicks assistants/employees we’re talking about but I bet the money could be crowdfunded for rings.

The assumption should be that over time the political system will deliver lower inflation and interest rates since that’s what the public has shown it wants. In delivering that we’ll probably create new problems, but I would bet on that.
When my book came out, everyone asked if Trump was going to change the direction of US trade policy. "Too soon to say" I'd say because of status quo bias. Now Trump made "tariff" one of the most hated words in politics, says @greg_ip wsj.com/economy/trade/… via @WSJ (1/2)

What will frontline Dem House members in 2027 (say in R+7 districts) be looking to do? My guess is two things — voting to repeal the tariffs and investigating corruption. They’ll want to vote no on all the progressive fiscal wish lists.
