What on earth happened to Malcolm Gladwell's face?
Here's Gemini's assessment:
Looking closer at the lower third of the face, that asymmetry stands out for a few specific reasons:
Mandibular Asymmetry / Dental Crossbite: The lower jaw (mandible) noticeably deviates toward his viduals, natural skeletal asymmetry or an untreated crossbite/malocclusion shifts the jaw off-center, which becomes far more prominent when speaking or holding the mouth in a resting posture.
Mid-Speech Lateral Jaw Shift: During speech—especially on video calls where the frame captures a single millisecond—the mandible moves laterally to articulate certain phonemes (like "s," "sh," or soft consonants), pulling the chin and lower lip sideways.
Asymmetric Muscle Tone: Facial nerve tone and the strength of the depressor anguli oris/platysma muscles differ naturally from side to side. When someone is speaking or grimacing slightly, one corner of the mouth pulls harder, making the entire lower jaw look torqued or skewed compared to the upper facial midline.
Rolling Shutter Effect: Smartphone and webcam sensors scan an image line-by-line from top to bottom. If the head turns or the mouth moves rapidly while the frame is scanning down, the bottom of the face can literally be rendered horizontally shifted relative to the forehead and eyes, creating a warped or "melted" look.

🚨Glenn Dubin, one of several Wall Street figures whose relationship with Jeffrey Epstein is facing scrutiny, has stepped down from the board of Mount Sinai hospital.
The revelation follows news earlier this year that Mount Sinai had reportedly formed a committee to review its e late accused sex trafficker.
The hospital is featured prominently in the Epstein files released by the Department of Justice, including an incident in which a Mount Sinai doctor appears to have operated on a young Russian woman inside Epstein’s Upper East Side townhouse after she got hurt during a stay on his Caribbean island.
His wife, Dr Eva Andersson-Dubin, who had once dated Epstein before her marriage, also stepped down earlier this year from the board of Mount Sinai’s Icahn School of Medicine.
The circumstances surrounding the Dubins’ departure from these Mount Sinai boards are not clear.
Last month, @RepThomasMassie alleged on the floor of the House of Representatives that Glenn Dubin was one of 14 “Epstein co-conspirators” who ought to face investigation and possible prosecution.
In a statement, Mount Sinai said: “The Dubins’ terms on the board of trustees ended this past spring, and they did not seek re-election.”
The hospital did not respond to questions about whether it had concluded its Epstein-related review or about the findings of the review, or about whether there was a link between the review and the Dubins’ decision.

I don't think Plumbers have 10 years. Also, once the bots take over that profession is going to get an overhaul that's at least a century overdue. The last good idea was the S trap ffs.

Geoffrey Hinton (@geoffreyhinton) gives plumbers about 10 more years. He thinks AI will do a podcaster's job first.
Asked by Nayeema Raza whether he still thinks being a plumber is a good idea right now:
"Yes, I still think being a plumber is a pretty good idea for the next 10 ings like physical dexterity are lagging behind."
"But those robots, particularly in China, are getting better all the time. And eventually they'll be able to do plumbing better and cheaper than people, but not for a little while."
Asked which jobs are most AI resilient other than plumbing:
"I don't think being a podcast, I don't think that's one of them. I think AI is going to be able to do that before it can do plumbing."
"I think it may be the top end of creativity. So it's not as skilled as really good creative artists at creativity yet. It is capable of writing a new episode of CSI. So I think the sort of extremes of human creativity, it hasn't got there yet. Manual dexterity, it hasn't got there yet. And maybe with empathy, it hasn't totally got there yet."
"Although if you compare an AI doctor with a real doctor, people rate the AI doctors much more empathetic."

WTAF!! This dude says he has the largest fanbase in the world as a CEO? wow drugs are amazing, another day to be glad if you are not taking them (minority) because clearly they turn your brain to mashed potatoes. You do not have a single fan you tweaker dimwit. Has this guy ever seen the literature on long-term use of speed? holes in the brain, his is clearly swiss cheese.
Sorry we democracy people are too stupid to understand your wealth, I mean, that's not your fault.

Palantir CEO Alex Karp says the Wealth tax doesn't solve the massive wealth inequality that AI will create:
"Me being 20x wealthier than I am now is a societal problem."
"When you talk to people, the answer is always, 'But everybody else's wealth is going to go up by 4% a nk it's explainable to the American people or any Western democracy."
"I have one of the first or second-largest anti-fan bases in the world. But the fan base is probably 10x larger than the anti-fan base. With that caveat, I'm one of the most popular CEOs in the world, and I wouldn't know how to explain that to my fans."
"Pretending we can just defer this issue just plays into the extremists."
"The extremist view is—let's blow up the US economy with some kind of wealth tax that, whether they realize it or not, would just shut off innovation, kill the startups, and at the end, actually would probably be pretty okay for people like me because we pay it, but then the startups that would compete against us get crushed."
"It doesn't solve the issue they're pretending to care about, but it does solve the political issue which they do actually care about—which is hurting people who are impossibly wealthy."

For all you little stans who have been acting like Linux is state of the art, nope it's also a castle made of sand built from half century old, memory-unsafe tinker toys...
🚨 BREAKING: LINUX IS NOW FACING TWO CRITICAL SECURITY VULNERABILITIES, AND THERE ARE NO OFFICIAL KERNEL FIXES YET.
Both rated 9.0/10 in severity.
One could allow hackers to take control of vulnerable servers WITHOUT EVEN LOGGING IN.
And the most alarming part? The flaws were made PUBLIC before patches were ready.
Here's what's happening:
→ TWO CRITICAL RCE FLAWS: Both affect KSMBD, Linux's built-in SMB file server.
→ NO PASSWORD REQUIRED: One vulnerability could allow unauthenticated attackers to execute malicious code on vulnerable servers.
→ KERNEL-LEVEL ACCESS: Successful exploitation could potentially give attackers control within the Linux kernel itself.
→ NO MAINLINE PATCH YET: Both vulnerabilities were publicly disclosed before official kernel fixes were available.
→ DISCOVERED BY AI: Trend Micro's AI-powered security scanner identified the flaws.
→ SERVERS AT RISK: Linux systems running the vulnerable KSMBD service need immediate attention, especially if port 445 is exposed.
First PHP. Then Node.js. Then GitLab. Then Python.
NOW LINUX.
And this time, the vulnerabilities are PUBLIC before the fixes are ready.
If you manage Linux servers, CHECK YOUR EXPOSURE NOW.Community noteKSMBD is a rarely used optional in-kernel SMB server distinct from the common Samba implementation; it is not enabled or shipped by default on major distributions like RHEL, and the flaws affect only systems explicitly running it with port 445 exposed.

🧠 *Obesity May Be Linked to Twice as Much Brain Damage.
What if excess body fat affected more than your waistline? Scientists are uncovering a concerning connection between obesity and changes deep inside the human brain.
A study reported by researchers found that different re linked to lower brain volume, changes in brain tissue, and signs of faster brain aging. Some patterns were also associated with a higher risk of cognitive decline.
🔬 **But here is what makes this discovery important:** It may not be just how much fat you carry, but also WHERE your body stores it. Fat around internal organs, known as visceral fat, has been linked to changes in brain health.
Scientists believe inflammation and problems with blood sugar regulation may help explain this connection. However, these findings do not prove that obesity directly causes brain damage, and researchers are still investigating the relationship.
The encouraging news is that healthy habits, including regular physical activity, balanced eating, and managing blood pressure and blood sugar, can support both brain and overall health.
**Your brain and your body may be more closely connected than you ever imagined.**

The core argument of the Fascist Broligarchs is taxes are regressive and they are constantly making new stuff. What has this nitwit ever made? Google launched with one thing in its IP portfolio which is frankly a joke (eponymously vanity named Page Rank). That was over 2 decades ago and he can't stand the idea of some of his pile going to infrastructure for the state. FATWO
They are all worthless people.

👀🇺🇸 A new book alleges that Dutch intelligence hacked Jared Kushner's phone and watched him access a Dubai bank account holding hundreds of millions of dollars that came from a bank in Azerbaijan, - Vanity Fair
The claim comes from an excerpt of Princes and Thieves, a book by t Matthew Cole about Kushner and UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed.
Cole says a source he considered reliable told him in spring 2020 that Kushner appeared to transfer large sums from the account to other people, including a warlord, a mercenary and a former hit man.
The excerpt's headline says the transfers totaled more than $700 million and that the bank accounts linked Trump's son-in-law and former senior adviser to Israel, the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
