But it was a “close race” right?
Ward-by-ward analysis finds the incumbent gained ground everywhere, even as residents stay divided on policing, housing and bike lanes. thestar.com/news/gta/city-…

again, this is insane framing and objectively wrong based on the math

in no universe is a 13 point margin considered tighter than expected, especially when coupled with the fact that chow got more votes than any other mayoral candidate in the city’s history
A tighter-than-expected re-election leaves the mayor facing questions about passive leadership, thin plans and an unclear second-term agenda. thestar.com/news/gta/olivi…

Bradford lost his own ward by 35 points. Tells you everything you need to know.

Don’t know if this has been said yet, but Olivia Chow is the first mayor to ever receive over 500,000 votes

A wave of new progressive councillors coming in with Chow’s reelection - Chan McNally, Padovani, Stikuts, Erhardt, Layton, and Nate of course… that’s how you turn a weak mayoralty into legislative action.

So happy for @beynate elected with another large mandate in Beaches East York. His brand of politics will be well suited to City Hall, and he’ll do great things.

Can’t believe the guy who helped broker the famous Queen’s Pub Budget at @queensu_mp 2007 between me and Bill Howe is gonna be mayor of Mississauga. Congrats @AlvinTedjo!

From one NDP premier to a former one: play stupid games you win stupid prizes.
I asked Premier Kinew if he has concerns about Premier-designate Doerksen's promise to repeal DRIPA in BC:

"The election results in BC should concern every elected politician and every consultant out there... what we're doing is not a game."

The good people of Mississauga would be incredibly well served by Alvin as mayor and deserve so much more than a retread Crombie mayoralty.

Nate Erskine-Smith was railroaded out of the OLP leadership race because people like Tom Allison thought he was too mean to Bonnie Crombie. He deserves an apology.
In a scathing statement, Fraser says if Crombie “believes she was never comfortable being a Liberal, I think that probably speaks for itself.”

“Being an Ontario Liberal isn’t something you wear when it’s comfortable. It’s something you believe in,” he adds.

I’m sure the BC Conservatives will take this to heart when they inevitably replace this Dork Nerdson fellow with MAGA McChemTrails as Premier in five months.
Relatively normal and likeable dude replaces deeply unpleasant and polarizing political animal as leader of conservative party and wins massively, in what is surely a fluke one-off with no broader meaning or significance that anyone should pay attention to or ponder in any way.

Very much a "worst person you know just made a great point" kind of vibe to this - but Kouvalis is right. And this from a guy who had no scruples about working for Ford.
We don’t agree with Nick Kouvalis on much, but we do agree politicians need to have principles and that Brad Bradford has none.

Brad went from a progressive who voted to defund the police to courting MAGA supporters. Why should you trust his word?

The number of responses to this that I got from Bradford supporters saying something incredibly racist or using the "r" word is pretty shocking, even for this site.
I can’t for the life of me understand why anyone would vote for Brad Bradford. An empty suit with no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Chow isn’t perfect but the choice between them should be easy.
