This is just ridiculous...

Apologies in advance for folks less interested in a Coinbase thread, but :grr:

Tell me you've never had difficult financial obligations beyond your immediate control, much less experienced even the tiniest bit of poverty, without telling me:
x.com/brian_armstron…

"Quit your job" is a ridiculous thing to assume as "on the table".
3/ Second, if you have no confidence in the execs or CEO of a company then why are you working at that company? Quit and find a company to work at that you believe in!

In the same *public* Twitter thread that starts with "This is really dumb on multiple levels" the following post is rich:

x.com/brian_armstron…

This isn't just criticizing, its verging into attacking and ad-hominem. In public. Hmm.

I mean, also, Coinbase is a public company.
4/ Third, making suggestions on how to improve the company is a great idea (in fact, we expect everyone to be a part of that). But our culture is to praise in public, and criticize in private.

Tell me you don't actually want critical feedback from employees without telling me:

Lead w/ "Quit and find a company to work at that you believe in!" and then backpedal: x.com/brian_armstron…

Basically "we want feedback, but not *this* feedback, or feedback from *you*"

🙄
8/ There is probably lots we can be doing better, but if you're at a place where you want to leak stuff externally then it's time for you to go. You're hurting yourself and those around you.

Look, I don't know anything about Coinbase or the criticism.

Maybe its all nonsense, maybe its all vindictive, maybe the leaks are super bad and shouldn't have happened.

Maybe the critics really shouldn't work there. Maybe they even need to be fired. No clue TBH.

But...

If this thread is an example of the CEO, in his own words, "be[ing] a part of the solution"... just *wow*.

Your "solution" involves a CEO being a bully and punching down at upset employees on massive public platforms with insults and hypocritical arguments?

My two cents:

@chandlerc1024 My opinion is that he’s CEO of a crypto company so I’m sadly very unsurprised he would have a terrible take on something - the whole concept of crypto is awful to begin with

@jonmasters Running a business is reasonably different from the nuance of the risks and challenges posed by cryptocurrencies.

TBH, this seems more unambiguously negative than Coinbase itself.
