The alkaline diet is BS

Proof: vinegar is the bomb
A little vinegar before a high-carb meal can help a person's body handle the carbs. In people with insulin resistance, about 20 grams of apple cider vinegar in water, taken right before a meal of a bagel and orange juice, raised insulin sensitivity over the next hour by about a ws how fast sugars are broken down and absorbed, and it may help muscle use glucose. I'd dilute it to protect tooth enamel, and I'd treat it as a way to soften a carb-heavy meal rather than a reason to eat one.

They were citing refs, google books, anything to say the glycogen was completely degraded so indeed carnivore was ketogenic

And they wouldn't get scurvy because of the vitamin C in some raw animal products (before the glucose competition theory became popular)
@BlueLightDiet @jeremy_olive_ Back during the paleo vs keto wars, everyone was arguing about the carbs in raw shellfish and caribou and shit

They wanted to prove carnivore was low carb but antagonists were saying that the glycogen in some animal foods kicked them out of ketosis

This is wild
a couple weeks ago I posted about how bone grows into titanium implants because cells can't find the boundary

turns out there's a catch engineers have been trying to solve for years:

titanium is too stiff (~110 GPa vs spongy bone's 0.02–3.7 GPa)

so the metal takes all the around it actually weakens because physics says "why maintain structure that isn't carrying stress?" (stress shielding)

enter selective laser melted Zn-1Mg-0.1Sr gyroid scaffolds:

→ mathematically generated TPMS gyroid lattice (70% porous, 550 μm pores)

→ elastic modulus tuned right down to 2.3 GPa so it flexes like real cancellous bone

→ alloying zinc with 1% Mg + 0.1% Sr precipitates Mg2Zn11 & SrZn13 intermetallics, more than doubling strength over pure zinc (33.7 MPa)

→ degrades at 0.36 mm/year with zero hydrogen gas pockets

and the wildest part
as it dissolves, it turns its own surface into calcium-phosphate & zinc-phosphate minerals while feeding Zn2+ and Sr2+ ions that make bone-forming cells grow faster

titanium tricks the skeleton into adopting permanent metal
this thing holds the load, feeds the bone to rebuild itself, and vanishes when the job is done.

radical engineering.

Not sure your haplotype? Move closer to the equator; it's the default that works for humans on a species-level
The zipcode and haplotype are mismatched. Easy.

Clams are an exceptionally good source of iron per calorie

One serving has 20 mg, hits the RDA with about 100 kcals
For the low iron or ferritin girls….

Open, drain and add some good olive oil like @jeremy_olive_ makes.

Plus you getting food for your circadian machinery.

Practically every company in the supplement industry is trying to get their products into gummy format

Gummies are HUGELY popular..

sweet chewy treat > swallowing a horse pill
Glycine: 6 grams per day link.amazon/B0iGc4Eh4
They even make it in gummies

Oh great, people reading this are interpreting it to mean 10 minutes in zone 5 once per week

Good luck
The most important determinant of how effective a workout is at improving VO₂ max is…

*how long* you spend at a high percentage of VO₂ max!

This is why 2+ minute intervals are superior to sprint interval training (~30 seconds or less).

30 seconds is too short for oxygen max, and by the time you get there, it’s time to recover.

Finasteride and dutasteride do more than lower DHT

Blocking 5-alpha reductase can also reduce the production of:

• 3α-androstanediol—a neurosteroid that enhances GABA-A signalling, with potential roles in mood and cognition.

• 5α-DHP—a progesterone metabolite involved in erve repair in animal studies.

• Allopregnanolone—a potent enhancer of GABA-A signalling. Its synthetic analogue, zuranolone, is the only FDA-approved medication specifically for postpartum depression.

These pathways don’t prove that everyone taking these medications will develop symptoms; some tolerate them well.

But describing them as “just DHT blockers” is inaccurate.

Thanks to @BerbarianWizard for originally bringing this to my attention.

There are no RCTs or even remotely good human studies so this is entirely just an opinion: dose timing should be later in the day link.amazon/B0gBHzE2W

The Social Reckoning (2026 biographical thriller film) by Aaron Sorkin is pretty good

Jeremy Strong (Kendall Roy in Succession, Vinny Daniel in The Big Short, among others) plays Mark Zuckerberg in place of Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network, 2010, also by Sorkin)
