Interesting - with today’s CPI print, it’s all but guaranteed the new TFSA limit for 2027 will be $7500.
The average monthly CPI for all items for October 2025 to September 2026 was 167.525
The indexed TFSA dollar amount for 2027 is $7,372, which is rounded to the nearest $500 to arrive at a $7,500 TFSA dollar limit for 2027. The lifetime limit as of January 1, 2027, for someone who was 18 in 2009, will be $116,500 (assuming no contributions or withdrawals to date).
Enjoy the extra $500!!

The TFSA is a wealth generation machine. I’m begging you to use it if you’re Canadian.
When I heard that $350B is sitting in cash in TFSAs I was astounded. Imagine if that was invested in Canada. Imagine the increase in wealth for those clients. Imagine the businesses that could be built. Imagine the jobs that could be created. It's one of the greatest opportunities we should take advantage of. newsroom.wealthsimple.com/the-tfsa-might…

So we have:
- The highest global tariffs in years
- Crude touching $90/bbl
- The highest 30y yield in 25 years
- A plague resurfacing
and people are still wondering why the stock market is down today?!

Seeing this all over my feed.
So easy to say you’d leave it in and “do nothing”
Very different scenario when the 30 year jumps to 8% and you’re down almost 600k in mark-to-market.

30 years is a LONG time
If you have $2,000,000, you could invest all of it in the 30 year treasury at 5.62% and earn $112,400 per year without doing a single thing

With yesterday’s $VTI dividend payment of ~$0.96/sh, Mr or Mrs CalmDodo17 received a dividend payment of ~$50k USD.
Not a bad quarter!

Lots of people in the replies: “well they didn’t get rich through index funds!”
The portfolio is up 152% - $48.5M today implies roughly $19M of starting capital and $29M of gains.
At some point, “just buy the index” starts doing a lot of the getting rich for you.
Whatever made the first $19M, it sure looks like boring index funds made the next $29M.
