We are incredibly grateful to be in a position to help high school student-athletes who have dreams and aspirations of playing college baseball!
Recently, we had the opportunity to help a young man attend a college baseball camp that wise would have had difficulty affording.
Before providing assistance, we reached out to the college program he was interested in. The coaching staff confirmed that he was already on their recruiting board.
THAT WAS ALL WE NEEDED TO HEAR! 🙌
We stepped in and covered the cost of the camp, helping take some financial pressure off his family while giving him an opportunity to get in front of a program that already had interest in him.

⚾ RECRUITING ADVICE: STOP CHASING ROSTER NEEDS
One of the biggest mistakes I see families make in the recruiting process is putting too much emphasis on which colleges have a roster need at their position.
Here's the reality: Roster needs can change overnight. As a freshman, ut a few returners and incoming guys regardless.
Between the transfer portal, coaching changes, roster movement, and the constantly evolving landscape of college baseball, what a program needs today could look completely different six months from now.
Does that mean roster needs don't matter? Absolutely not. But in my opinion, they should be pretty low on the list when determining which schools are the best fit.
For 90%+ of student-athletes, I believe two things should be at the very top of that list:
🎓 ACADEMICS: Does the school offer the education, degree programs, and opportunities that align with your future?
🏫 COLLEGE EXPERIENCE: Is this somewhere you can genuinely see yourself being happy for four years? Do you like the campus, location, culture, and overall environment?
Baseball is important. Playing time is important. Finding an opportunity is important.
But your college decision should be about much more than where a coach might need a player at your position.
Find schools that fit YOU first. Then figure out where the baseball opportunities exist.
The recruiting landscape will continue to change, but choosing a school for the right reasons will never go out of style.
Don't build your college list around a roster spot that might not exist tomorrow. Build it around a future you can be excited about.

But let's be real… these busiVERYWHERE!
Why? Because people recognize the fear, confusion, and uncertainty families experience during recruiting.
Before spending your hard-earned money...do your homework. Ask questions, research their experience, understand what you're actually getting, and make sure their intentions align with your family's goals.
If it's, "I have a lot of connections and will make calls for your son," that is scary to me. *How do they track their calls?
*Who are they talking to?
*How often are you in touch with them about progress?
*What EXACTLY are they going to do for you or your program?
Would you hire a financial advisor without he or she sharing information with you on what they are investing in and why?
Good guidance can be invaluable.

Jackson Esparza | INF | Mission Prep HS | GBG
Jackson Esparza is a strong, physical 5'10", 190-pound infielder who brings versatility to the left side of the diamond. Playing for GBG and attending Mission Prep High School in San Luis Obispo, ve and is comfortable playing SS, 2B, or 3B.
Offensively, Jackson has the ability to use the entire field and continues to develop as he grows into his frame. He is open geographically when it comes to finding the right college baseball opportunity.
Jackson also gets it done in the classroom, carrying an impressive 4.4 GPA, which should open the door to a wide range of academic and baseball opportunities.
Definitely a player for college coaches to keep on their radar. 👀⚾

We watch a lot of baseball in the Centanni house. And I don’t mean just having the game on in the background.
Watch what players do without the ball. Watch runners read situations. Watch how pitchers attack hitters. Watch defensive alignments. Try to figure out what might happen before the pitch is even thrown.
You can learn a ton about this game simply by watching people who play it at a high level.
Practice the game. Play the game. Study the game.
If you want to become a smarter baseball player, start by becoming a better baseball watcher. 🧠⚾️

We spend so much time developing the physical side of the game—but what about Baseball IQ?
Especially at the younger ages, I don’t think we’ve done a good enough job over the past several years of consistently teaching players and the game.
Situational baseball. Decision-making. Knowing where to be. Understanding why something happens—not just what to do.

I went to an aquarium the other day and watched about 300 fish swimming in the same direction. There was one little guy that wanted to be different.
It immediately made me think about baseball recruiting.
Too many families follow the crowd.
Same showcases.
Same camps.
Same Everyone assumes that because everyone else is doing it, it must be the right path.
But recruiting isn’t about following the most popular path.
It’s about finding the path that gets YOUR player noticed.
Sometimes the best thing you can do for your son’s recruiting journey is stop watching what everyone else is doing—and start swimming in a different direction.

Exposure matters. But exposure without development only shows coaches where you are right now.
