🇮🇱 JUST IN: Israel's Prime Minister is considering crypto to get around possible banking sanctions.
Netanyahu said Israel must prepare an economy that can bypass banking sanctions, and that he's working on currencies that get around them.
On blockchain, he said: "One of them, dy asked for a plan to be prepared for that."

THE RUSSIAN DIESEL DEAL IS POLITICAL THEATRE. HERE'S THE PART NOBODY IS EXPLAINING.
Oct 9: Trump announced Russia would release up to 4.8 million tonnes of diesel. The same day, the Treasury issued a licence letting Russian diesel into America for the first time since 2022.
Now a couldn't sell that diesel anyway. Moscow had BANNED its own diesel exports since July, because Ukrainian drones had knocked out so much of its refining.
3 million of those 4.8 million tonnes only happen "depending on the condition" of Russia's refineries. In other words, only if the drones stop.
Two days later, Trump announced an "energy ceasefire". Days after that, Zelenskyy said Russia had hit 15 Ukrainian energy facilities in one night.
So far, one tanker has sailed for New York. 40,000 tonnes. About 300,000 barrels.
America burns roughly 3.9 million barrels of diesel a day. That cargo covers 1 hour 50 minutes.
Nobody will say who bought it or who is selling it. And the US Treasury asked Russia's sovereign wealth fund to help sort out the payments.
Diesel hit a record $6.53 a gallon at the pump. Wholesale prices dropped 4.5% the day of the announcement. That was the point: a headline that moves a price.
A week later, Trump also paused the new law that would have put tariffs of up to 100% on Russia's biggest energy customers. A dozen senators, six of them Republicans, want the deal scrapped.
Russia got sanctions relief and a break for its refineries.
Trump got a headline before the midterms.
You got 1 hour 50 minutes of diesel.
The tanker docks Nov 7. Four days after the vote.

"THERE'S NOTHING RISKIER THAN CRYPTO."
You've heard it from your bank, your adviser and the evening news.
So let's look at the safe option.
2013. Cyprus. The banks shut for 10 days. When they reopen, savers at Bank of Cyprus lose 47.5% of everything over €100,000.
2015. for three weeks. You can take out €60 a day.
2019. Lebanon. Banks lock people out of their own dollar savings. The lira loses about 90% of its value.
2022. Canada orders banks to freeze accounts linked to a trucker protest. No court order needed. About 210 accounts, roughly C$7.8 million.
2023. Silicon Valley Bank. $42 billion tries to leave in one day. By the next morning the bank is gone, and around 90% of its deposits were over the insured limit.
Every one of these has the same thing in common.
Someone else held the money. So someone else decided when you could have it.
Now look at self custody.
Your Bitcoin sits at an address that only your private key can spend from. That key comes from 12 or 24 words you wrote down yourself. No bank has a copy. No company has a copy. No government has a copy.
There's no branch to close. No daily limit. No account manager for a freeze order to land on. The network doesn't do weekends or bank holidays.
Send it across the street or across the world at 3am on a Sunday. Nobody approves it. Nobody can reverse it.
Satoshi wrote it plainly in 2009: "The central bank must be trusted not to debase the currency, but the history of fiat currencies is full of breaches of that trust."
The cypherpunk answer was to stop needing the trust.
Yes, crypto is volatile. Yes, people lose money. FTX lost $8 billion of customer funds. Look at how: people handed their coins to a company to hold. Same mistake as Cyprus, new logo.
Leave it on an exchange and you've just opened another bank account.
There are two kinds of risk. The price moving. And someone else deciding whether you can have your money.
Hold your own keys and only the first one is left. Your bank account has both.

Americans owe brokers $1.48 TRILLION. Nearly 5x the dot-com peak.

FRANCE JUST VOTED TO TAX YOU FOR SWAPPING BITCOIN INTO A STABLECOIN.
Not cashing out. Swapping.
Today in France you pay tax when you sell crypto for euros. Trade it for a stablecoin and nothing is due.
Amendment I-3898 changes that from 1 January 2027. Swap into a regulated is taxed at 31.4%. On the day you swap, whether you ever touch a euro or not.
It passed last Friday, 38 votes to 37. The Assembly has 577 deputies. 100 showed up. The government opposed it. It passed anyway.
Now look at what else deputies have put into the same budget.
Declare any self-custody wallet worth €100,000 or more, or face fines of up to €10,000. One version wants the threshold at €5,000.
An exit tax on unrealised crypto gains above €800,000 if you move your tax home out of France. Coins on foreign exchanges and in your own wallet included.
First they tax the trade. Then they list the wallet. Then they tax you for leaving.
And it isn't just France.
Since January, DAC8 has every crypto exchange in the EU collecting your details for the tax office.
From July 2027, EU exchanges can't touch privacy coins, and cash payments over €10,000 are banned across the EU.
Europe isn't regulating crypto. It's mapping your wealth before it decides how much to take.
None of the French measures are law yet. The full budget vote is 17 November, then the Senate.
But the people who do well in Europe now are the ones who planned their exit before they needed it. A second passport. A second residency. Keys only they hold.

IS THE LARGEST MARGIN CALL IN HISTORY IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN?
Americans now owe $1.48 TRILLION in margin debt. Money borrowed from their brokers to buy stocks.
June set the all-time high at $1.50 trillion. September sits less than 2% below it.
Now compare.
Dot-com bubble peak, n.
Right before 2008, July 2007: $416 billion.
Today is nearly 5x the dot-com peak. 3.6x the 2008 peak.
"But inflation." Fine. Adjust for it and it's still 2.5x the dot-com peak and 2.2x 2008.
"But the economy is bigger." Fine. Margin debt is now 4.5% of US GDP. In 2000 it was 3.0%. In 2007 it was 2.9%.
There is no way to measure this where it looks okay.
It's up 74% in 17 months. It broke its own record 12 times since January 2025.
And the cash sitting in those brokerage accounts? $434 billion. The debt is more than 3x the cash.
Here's what happened last time.
After 2000, margin debt collapsed 55%.
In 2008, it collapsed 52%.
That collapse IS the margin call. Prices drop, brokers demand cash, you can't pay, they sell your stocks for you. That selling pushes prices lower. Which triggers the next margin call.
Halve today's number and that's $740 billion of leverage being ripped out of the market.
And when it breaks, you already know the playbook.

BLACKROCK NOW HOLDS 803,871 BITCOIN.
That's 3.83% of every Bitcoin that will ever exist, sitting in one fund.
In 2017 Larry Fink called Bitcoin an index of money laundering. Today his firm manages $15.5 trillion and runs the biggest Bitcoin fund on earth.
Now read the small prospectus says that if Bitcoin ever splits in a hard fork, BlackRock decides which chain counts as Bitcoin.
Think about what that means.
In a fork, every coin exists on both chains. So BlackRock would be sitting on 800,000 coins on each side.
Keep the one they like. Dump the other. 800,000 coins of selling pressure aimed at whichever chain Wall Street doesn't want.
The chain the community actually chose could crater overnight. The headlines would say Bitcoin is dead. ETF holders would panic.
And anyone who believes in Bitcoin and holds their own keys would be looking at the best buying opportunity of their lives.
They can pick a chain for their fund. They can't pick one for you.

THE FOUNDER OF ETHEREUM MOVED 400 ETH, ABOUT $1 MILLION, INTO A PRIVACY PROTOCOL.
It's called Railgun. Vitalik Buterin sent the 400 ETH in August 2024. When an earlier transfer drew criticism, his answer was three words: "Privacy is normal."
The problem it deals with: a normal e with your address can see your balance and every transaction in and out, forever. Once that address is tied to your name, through an exchange, a data leak or one payment, your whole history is tied to you too.
How Railgun works.
It's a set of smart contracts on Ethereum. You "shield" tokens by sending them into the contract. They become encrypted notes that only your private 0zk address can open.
To spend them, your wallet builds a zero knowledge proof on your own device. The proof shows you own the notes and the numbers add up, without revealing which notes they were. Inside the pool, the sender, recipient, token and amount are all hidden.
A "broadcaster" submits the transaction for you and takes its gas fee out of your private balance, so your public address never appears.
What stays public. Shielding shows your address, the token and the amount. Unshielding shows the recipient, the token and the amount. Each one costs 0.25%.
What can still give you away. Unshielding the same amount soon after you shielded it. Pulling everything out at once instead of common amounts. Sending from your own public address. Each token has its own pool, so a busier token gives more cover.
Using it, through the Railway wallet app (iPhone, Android, desktop):
1. Create a wallet and back up the recovery phrase. Your keys come from it. No company holds them.
2. Shield ETH or a token to your 0zk address.
3. Wait one hour while it checks the deposit isn't from an address on the sanctions list.
4. Send privately to other 0zk addresses.
5. Unshield to a fresh address you haven't used before.
You can also share a read-only viewing key. It shows your full private history to whoever holds it.

IN JULY, ONE BUG IN ONE COMPANY'S FIRMWARE EMPTIED THOUSANDS OF BITCOIN WALLETS. MOST PEOPLE USING THAT SAME DEVICE INSIDE A MULTISIG LOST NOTHING.
That's the whole case for multisig. One seed phrase, one device and one company's code is a single point of failure. Multisig takes works, and how to set one up without getting it wrong.
What it is
A normal wallet has one key, and whoever has it can spend. A 2-of-3 multisig has three keys, and it takes any two to move a single sat. A thief with one key gets nothing. Lose one key and you can still get in with the other two. The rule is built into the Bitcoin address itself, so nobody can override it.
What you need
Three hardware wallets, ideally from three different makers, so one company's bug can only ever touch one of your keys. A metal backup for each seed phrase. And free software to tie them together. Sparrow is a popular choice on Bitcoin.
Setting it up
1. Set up each hardware wallet on its own, with a brand new seed. Never type a seed phrase into a computer or a phone.
2. In Sparrow, create a new wallet, choose multi signature and set it to 2 of 3. Add each device as one of the keys.
3. Sparrow gives you a wallet file. Save it and print it. More on why below.
4. Send in a small amount. Then send it back out, signing with two of the devices. If that works, the setup works.
5. Now the step almost everyone skips. Delete the wallet from Sparrow and rebuild it from the wallet file. Check the first receive address matches. Only then move your real savings.
The wallet file
This is the part that catches people out. To rebuild a multisig you need two of the seeds and the wallet file. Lose the file and you'll need all three keys to put it back together, which defeats the point.
The file can't spend anything, so keep a copy with each key. But it shows every address and your full balance, so treat it as private. Don't email it, don't upload it.
Where to keep the keys
Three places, one key in each. For example, one at home, one with family or at the office, and one in a safe deposit box. Each place gets the device, its seed backup and a copy of the wallet file. Someone who gets into any one place gets one key, and one key isn't enough.
The mistakes that cost people
2-of-2. It sounds safer, but lose either key and the coins are gone for good.
All three devices from the same maker.
Two keys in the same house. One fire or one break-in takes both.
Letting a company hold enough keys to sign. If a company holds one, it should only ever be one.
Never testing a recovery until the day you actually need it.
What it costs
The software is free. The real cost is three hardware wallets and three metal backups. Each spend costs a little more in fees than a normal wallet, because the transaction carries more signatures.
Your family
If something happened to you tomorrow, could your family get in? Write them a short letter. Say it's a 2-of-3 multisig, where each key is, which software to use and who they can ask for help. Never put a seed phrase in that letter.
When you need it
It isn't a dollar amount. Ask yourself one question. Would losing this change your life?
If the answer is yes, one key is carrying too much.
Hold your keys. Plural.

It's the largest deficit since 2021, at about 6.2% of GDP.

That's over $3.7 BILLION a day just to pay interest.
