Bears don’t have “longtime mates” or any sort of relationships like that. Just anthropomorphic silliness.
A grieving bear spent months alone after losing its longtime mate, but an unexpected visitor slowly gave it a reason to enjoy life again. For years, the bear had shared its enclosure with its mate, spending their days together and resting in the same favorite spot. But after its keepers noticed a heartbreaking change. The bear became withdrawn, often lying alone in the very place where the two used to sleep. Then one day, a wild crow began visiting the enclosure. At first, keepers thought little of it. But the crow kept returning, sometimes sitting nearby while the bear rested. Over time, the bear appeared more active, and visitors began noticing the unusual friendship forming between them. One afternoon, someone even captured the crow perched on the bear’s head while it relaxed in the water, looking as though the two had known each other forever. But the sweetest moment came later, when keepers noticed the crow had started sleeping beside the bear at night. And of all the places they could have chosen, they settled in the exact same spot where the bear once slept beside its mate. The crow could never replace the companion the bear had lost. But somehow, it had found a little friend to share that lonely space with again.
