My slides from today's talk. I talked about Micro Applications. I shared the idea of distributing the complexity of building SPAs to different levels for creating independent teams and improving the developer experience. #WeAreDevelopers2022

It is my hobby project that I’m removing my need of using IDEs, text editors, project viewers etc. After working extensively with AI agents, my essential need now is just checking my what is inside a text file or render and peek quickly to markdown, code or other text file rather than reading code, editing files.

Using an IDE or code editor for this need feels overkill and I wanted to have a file browser that can render or show contents of the text based files as I’m checking the directories and AI agents’ output.

It is fully written with AI, mostly autonomously from my phone with an orchestrator agent coordinating feature deliveries.
My first MacOS app is available in Mac AppStore ✌️

A small project I did for Halloween last weekend. I use AI agents a lot for daily work aside from coding. So I wanted to have a lantern and a companion for it.

After explaining what I wanted to @ChatGPT in Codex, it created images of this Jack-o'-lantern and Scarecrow, which I printable models using @tripo3d_ai.

Then I exported the 3ML files and adjusted the sizes and colours a bit with ChatGPT again to finalise the print setup.

The lantern took 16 hours to print, and the scarecrow took 27 hours in my Bambu Lab printer. Kids enjoyed them a lot. To my bad, while cleaning the supports, I broke the ivy leaf on the scarecrow's head 🤦

Do you (we) care this any more?

- either your agent decide
- or your linting rule block

- neither of those our preferences like spaces/tabs, brackets/single lines etc…
So const or let?

I like working with Codex, pretty neat and I prefer Codex desktop’s UI over Claude Desktop and Cursor. I have all three switch between occasionally and keep Codex as primary tool.

Another good part, Codex can start real sessions programmatically, not as subagent. This improved a lot the team orchestration. I can share a set of tasks or a feature to orchestrator agent. Then it coordinates the needed amounts of agents that can parallelize the work, read the session journals of the agents, and gives regular summaries of the work.

Sometimes orchestrator works for 6-7 hours with 8-9 agents to deliver a feature. Regularly observes the agents’ work, when needed gets cross-family review, compare the output with specs/decisions/plans when needed input pings me.

Check it out and let me know if it works for you; it improved my workflow.
v1.2.0 has been released.

PanePeek is a free app, an integrated text editor and file browser

I'm still waiting for the Mac App Store review; in the meantime, you can download it from GitHub releases

In this release, I've added (sorry, Codex added :D) 👇

For the last couple of years, I've been actively using AI to help with my work. Then around this time last year, I promised myself I would become AI-first and stop writing code manually.

Since then, I haven't written a single line of code, or even a single keystroke, including git operations. Yet I have had more than 1500 PRs in different products.

On top of this, I created multiple products that became my daily tools.

I built tools to improve my workflow and created an agentic SDLC that my colleagues highly appreciate. Now my agents write tests, code, run CI, and review code. I still actively work on spec/plan creation and accept or revise the end product/results. However, I am involved very little in between, aside from hardening/improving the guardrails.

It is amazing how far it has come.

Thanks to Codex and continues usage reset from @thsottiaux , my hobby became my kids’ wish list deliveries.

“Hey codex can you prepare 3D model for this photo and print it in my printer”

Meet @PanePeek , a file browser with an integrated code editor and markup renderer.

Since last year, AI agents have changed our way of working a lot. I don't recall when I stopped checking the written code and started to focus on reviews and implementation guardrails. Maybe it n more.

Nowadays, I mostly need to browse a directory, quickly check documents, make small text/code fixes in files, and copy the absolute path of the file/directory into the agent chat.

For these needs, TextEdit was too limited; launching an IDE or text editor felt like a waste of time. Then the idea of PanePeek came up. A file browser with an integrated code editor and a markup renderer that shows rendered Markdown for easy reading.

I built the app while travelling to my team meeting, hiking in the woods, and using my phone. Over the weekend, I fine-tuned the app and made a few improvements.

I also open-sourced the code: github.com/bcinarli/pane-….

In the repo, I have a directory called "agent-paper-trail" where you can see how I built the app, from idea/design to release, including decisions, specs, draft designs, and changes of mind during development.
