A huge victory for public transit that will resonate across the US. If Measure RTM in the SF Bay Area had failed, leaders across the country would have said “if transit can’t win in the most liberal metro area in the US, what chance do we have?” 1/.
The bay's public transit will live to see another day. Voters in five Bay Area counties approved Prop RTM, a half-cent sales tax that would fund more than 20 transit agencies, including BART, Muni, and Caltrain.

It is not illegal to enter the country and seek asylum! Due process applies to anyone on American soil.
Paula has complied w/immigration requirements while seeking asylum. Now she’s in federal detention, separated from her community & studies at @UCBerkeley.
Due process is not optional. She deserves fair treatment and should be released immediately while her asylum case proceeds.

Prop 45 does basically nothing for infill housing (which got a major statutory CEQA exemption last year via AB130), but will massively benefit sprawl subdivisons and freeway expansions. It's one of the worst things on your ballot this year.

Transit is a *government service* that is orders of magnitude safer and more efficient than highways that’s treated like a business; expected to be revenue neutral or even turn a profit. It constantly has to beg for money from the state that could just decide to fund it.

It's not mysterious at all. But if every neighborhood is allowed to opt out of change, the result is a free-rider problem. Exclusionary neighborhoods can free ride off of the neighborhoods that actually allow new housing, businesses, walkable amenities, etc.
@MattBruenig It's incredible to me that YIMBYs find it mysterious that people don't like change in their neighborhoods.
