What is going on with these zebrafish basal skin cells? I invite you to a 🧵 on wound healing, hydraulic fracking, and macropinocytosis, from subcellular to tissue-scale! All part of my favorite PhD project, now up on bioRxiv (1/17)

FWIW I've also started a profile on Mastodon: I don't think new ownership here is taking things in a good direction. Also excited for less corporate dreck, and the opportunity for something new (and maybe fun again?)

I'm a bit late to the party, but T. Swift's Lavender Haze is such a strong opener!

The slick, muffled, swelling background instrumental caught my attention. It creatively uses a lowpass filter for musical/storytelling effect, so I just had to dig in a little more! 1/5

Was just thinking about Jason Lindner Big Band "Live at the Jazz Gallery" and how much it brightens my day every time I listen. Would love to time travel back to this concert! youtube.com/watch?v=RA5e2j…

@KatrinaVelle @DeepSeaDrifter I was mistaken! I actually made a script back in grad school to find the first instance of a tag. The earliest #MicroscopyMonday it could find goes to @Dr_geauxMAB way back in 2013 x.com/search?q=%23Mi…!

Our paper is on biorxiv! We changed the ploidy of #xenopus embryos and showed that an increase in #ploidy causes a decrease in metabolic rate. This is due to #cellsize increase and lower energetic cost of plasma membrane maintenance. biorxiv.org/content/10.110… 1/2

My contribution to #MicrosCreepy! A z-stack of a sporangium looking spooky with cobweb-like membrane architecture (white) dividing the spherical sporangium (orange) in 3D as zoospores develop.

Absolutely stunning presentation. Beautiful cell biology on Naegleria from @KatrinaVelle and @FritzLaylin lab! Thank you for joining us for the reincarnation of @boston_parasite (BAPS).
I strung together every video in my presentation to make a 1 minute preview of my @boston_parasite talk tonight!

Hey everyone, we're getting close to some of our deadlines for the monthly fundraiser but we seem to be at risk of falling short. If we could get a boost today you'd be helping our program greatly! We need at least $246, our Venmo is @FreeFoodUD and CA $redactedindividual
On the 15th of every month we send a total of $1700 to our monthly financial support folks. This is the first month I’m really feeling like we are not going to be able to do that. Any donation helps get those folks some money! If ya can’t donate please share!

In January, a worker at cannabis giant Trulieve’s indoor grow facility in Holyoke was grinding marijuana & putting it into joints when she said she couldn’t breath. OSHA alleges that she then died from cannabis-dust inhalation.
