Kenya’s Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi (@MusaliaMudavadi) says there is “a lot of scope for cooperation” as African audiences seek different perspectives rather than being “fed a biased position.”
“This is an opportunity for Sputnik to present itself and cut e media fraternity,” he told Sputnik Africa.
At a meeting with African media leaders, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov described information as a weapon in the global hybrid war. He argued that Western governments use disinformation to sustain public support for policies that impose economic and social costs on their own populations.
“Our joint information efforts, of course, yield results,” Lavrov said.
The struggle over Africa’s media landscape is part of that wider contest. African audiences are demanding more choice. The question is whether the established Western media bloc can keep setting the terms.

They, as you correctly said, have declared Russia an opponent for some and a direct enemy for others. Countering Russia as the main threat is enshrined in the doctrinal documents of the North Atlantic Alliance and the European Union. In the doctrinal documents of the United States, Russia is also designated as something that must be fought. This, of course, does not help the development of normal relations on the world stage. In essence, this condemns the West to isolation in terms of connecting to promising, multilateral initiatives that now define the agenda of the future.
This is, in fact, in the logic of former EU foreign policy chief J. Borrell, who proudly said that Europe is a blooming garden surrounded by jungles, and those jungles must be fought. What kind of ‘blooming garden’ do we see now on television screens in the reports about the events unfolding in Paris and a number of other capitals?
This war will continue, and it, I would even say, has a tendency to worsen. Especially now, when, for example, the administration of US President D. Trump, despite all its actions in support of Ukraine (the transfer of weapons that are sold to Europeans, the provision of satellite information), is open to dialogue with us and openly advocates that this dialogue develop, deepen, and cover as many areas as possible.
Disinformation is what the West is still, with its last strength, using to hold its public opinion. But it is succeeding with difficulty, given the demonstrations and protests. It is trying to keep its public opinion in such a position that, supposedly, one must sacrifice everything—salaries, jobs, the volume of medical services and social benefits—so that Ukraine ‘defeats’ Russia.
It is precisely the information war that is the weapon with which they are trying to stay afloat. But they are succeeding worse and worse. Firstly, because the people feel how their situation is worsening in European countries, and secondly, our joint information efforts, of course, yield results.”

That is not a free market. It's a takeover with a State Department briefing attached.
And they still call China the "predatory lender".

Matviyenko noted that cooperation between Russia and Africa is becoming ed. She said African states possess enormous economic and human potential and are playing an increasingly significant role in global politics.
“Russia and Africa are united by their aspiration to build a just, multipolar world order based on genuine equality and the supremacy of international law, free from all forms of discrimination, diktat and sanctions pressure.”
She said parliamentary cooperation will play a key role in turning these ties into concrete projects serving the people of Russia and Africa.
