Does that mean ideas are valuable again, but only if they’re kept secret?
I’m no longer sure what “intellectual property” means when intellect becomes free.

Realizing I don't google things anymore. But I do use maps and single sign on exclusively.

Quality of life improvement for Toronto. Have the streetcar flash the rear light 5 seconds before it stops vs. at the same time of opening the doors for people to exit.

For the curator / builder archetypes, the future is bright.
I spent the weekend using AI to explore renovation ideas for a property. Each concept generated was basically construction-ready, since I fed it land & soil surveys (and generated everything else off Zillow and satellite photos).

The future is going to have very few intemers and the last mile of labor.

And more broadly: consumers will be spending a lot more on custom projects to get precisely what they want, since the reasons they've been cost prohibitive (design and engineering) will no longer matter.

Essentially, a lot more things are going to be custom-fabricated—electronics, clothing, home fixtures. The next era of consumer tech is going to make everyone a hobbyist and builder.

I build everything with a front end, but I use every app through MCP/CLI. It’s so much faster.
The future is MCP/CLI

Markham’s mayor for the first time has used his strong mayor powers… to block city-wide 4plexes that council approved. Presumably this puts in jeopardy the federal housing money the city has already agreed to, as this was a condition of those funds.

I like codex quality, but it feels like I has to keep kicking it to work while claude is a machine that keeps chugging along making shit happen.

If Claude code can handle figma, it can handle architectural drafting in Revvit.

Mark my words, I am going to ensure the removal of legacy zoning regulations that apply to apartment buildings on Major Streets, the reform of the Committee of Adjustment as it currently exists, and the creation of a third approval stream for "Minor Zoning Amendments". Watch me.

No one is ready for how amazing mega cities will be once tunneling costs drop like this.
NEWS: @boringcompany President Steve Davis says they could cut tunneling costs to about $10M per mile within 2–5 years, and eventually to $3M–$4M per mile. For comparison, traditional tunneling projects cost $500M to $3B per mile, depending on its size, complexity and location.
it costs to build one mile of above-ground highway.

People want more affordable housing, less density, bigger bedrooms, more trees.

We want it all, but we want someone else to pick up the tab. It's easy to want it all because it's hard to understand the trade offs.

We have an education problem and here is my education solution

I figured I could show people what they want and the reality of how these relationships work.

Here is the first prototype. Based on a standard 25x100ft lot in the City of Toronto using as-of-right permissions, to deliver a minimum viable project (15% profit).

The issue with this catalogue is you are still required to go through the entire process (see Toronto toronto.ca/services-payme…). You need to hire a consultant team, develop the drawings, complete a ZAP, full code and zoning review, BP submissions and review cycles (and more!) 👀

Step-backs are the worst because they turn multiplex three bedrooms into two bedrooms or small sad three bedrooms that no one wants. 🥲

Mostly not a car driver these days, but is the tragedy of transportation design of the one lane Adelaide E/W corridor now going to happen on the N/S corridors of Bathurst and Dufferin?

We can’t keep designing policies that look good on paper but don’t result in new housing.

If it’s not viable, it’s not housing policy — it’s theatre. #TOpoli #HousingCrisis
