Saw this on the weekend. It's absolutely stunning...I give muralwash urbanism a hard time occasionally, but when it works, it works.
There’s a new mural in Cabbagetown. 🍁

Ecology of Us, a new 22-storey mural by Jarus at 140 Carlton St., transforms a building into a tribute to the maple tree that stood nearby in Allan Gardens.

This City of Toronto, StreetARToronto mural advances reconciliation, diversity, rough public art, mentorship and community engagement, building more welcoming streets and a shared sense of belonging.🌳🎨

…this is kinda what I mean by mural washing tho.
I lived in this building until just recently + when they inspecting the property before putting up the mural they found that entire wall was water damaged + the adjacent units were in brutal shape, including mine. Very relieved I was able to move out. Looks good, though!

As we wait for poll-by-poll results for 2026, if you can't get enough of Toronto election results, I now have poll-by-poll maps for all mayor and council races going back to 2006. Want to know which downtown polls Rob Ford won in 2010? I got you. observingthecity.ca/elections

getting called 'low T' by the anon supporters of the lycra-wearing urban planner candidate whose voice wavers when he gets angry...you understand Brad and I are, like, the flapping of a butterfly's wings apart, right?

I don’t know what more @BradMBradford could have done. He ran an excellent campaign. He offered Toronto a clear alternative. I feel for him.

I heard Chow lied about Brad’s position and that there was no path to privatization almost exclusively by people loudly sympathetic to Brad. Virtually every normie I talked to was panicking, and I couldn’t nuance the convo.

Now did she lie or did she present a worst case scenario? I’ll let you yell at each other about that. But ether way it was a tangled ball of yarn to untangle for a population that does not trust the provincial gov at all rn. Hindsight: sleeping dogs should’ve been left to lie 🤷

He let some of his loudest supporters say stuff like “the poor shouldn’t get to vote” or “I don’t want to see gay people depicted in social media posts from City Hall” without denouncing them or saying they didn’t speak for him

This is a very unusual and touching portrait of Braeden Chow, the young man who might've caused some ballot confusion and who ran the majority of his campaign unhoused. Gift link here: thestar.com/gift-redeem?t=…

As someone who gets accused of being paid, having ulterior motives, and/or being disingenuous p constantly, I just want to urge people to remember we have a very large city inhabited by many people with extraordinarily diverse experiences.

i don't necessarily think Braeden Chow is a conservative plant, as some might suggest. looking at his insta, we've got a bunch of mutuals who interact with him regularly, like the OBGMs, who are a punk band. in addition to his music he has a non-profit inspired by Dolly Parton.

Thank you, @abbyjobrien, for giving Braeden a chance to explain himself; as your article notes, he's going to be immortalised as the third-place finisher. And for spending your time at an election party that was likely far less lively than the first- and second-place parties.

A prescient voice on the election was Burnside? Also interesting to see him going from asking people to show up for centre right candidates a few months ago, to back Chow on the water utilities thing.

maybe reading too much into it, but seems like the guy could feel it in the wind and then changed course accordingly

The election is over but the fight never stops.

4.07 lbs of garbage off the street on my way to the day job this morning after an evening of live-casting the results.
