The director believes modern cinema often underestimates younger audiences, arguing that children deserve stories that take their emotions hielding them from every difficult subject.

Thinking about how most magic works in HP, it seems like the magic "brings things to life". That is to say, "imbues sentience." I think wizards treat sapience poorly because why, for example, would a house elf have rights when a painting can think and speak?
