I think placement schedule is much better in nits than iits. In IITs just 5 days all companies are going to hit and take interviews where as nits do have time through out the year.

See @snowmaker , if u had done this in Delhi...u would have accessed students from IIT Delhi, IIIT Delhi, IIT Roorkee. And im pretty sure IIT Kanpur & BITS Pilani would have queued outside.
Oh and much better venues than Bangalore marriage halls.
In fact, im 98.72% sure that IIT Delhi would have made their convocation hall available to you.
Who knows - maybe PM Modi would have dropped in too !
