An oldie (not a goodie)...
"It is not because we care about children... NEA and its affiliates are effective advocates because we have power."

The teachers unions bring in ~$3 Billion EACH year.
They dominate presidential, congressional, gubernatorial, legislative, superintendent, and school board elections.
They run the teacher colleges.
They could fix our K-12 system tomorrow if they wanted to - why don’t they?

One reason I like the structure of the EFTC is that it doesn't assume every child needs the same thing.
One family might choose a private school.
Another might stay in public school and use scholarship funds for tutoring.
Another might need technology or other educational services.
The EFTC emphasizes that students aren't all the same.

Every governor in every state should say yes to this opportunity.
3/ We're talking millions of dollars at stake.
The American Federation for Children (@SchoolChoiceNow) estimates MA could generate:
- $638 million if 10% of eligible donors participate
- $1.3 billion if 20% participate.
All without new state spending.

Worth a read!
"A historic expansion of education freedom is underway in America. Signed into law by President Donald Trump on Independence Day 2025, the Federal Tax Credit Scholarship, also known as the Education Freedom Tax Credit, is poised to transform educational opportunities for millions of American children."

A tough-to-swallow pill: We over-built our K-12 schooling system for 20 years.
All the incentives aligned for MORE:
>Staff (& a truckload of union dues!)
>Buildings.
>Stadiums.
Now fewer people having children.
Families moving to better functioning states.
We'll see more and more headlines like this:

Every governor in every state should say yes to this opportunity.
Gov. @GavinNewsom has the chance to decide whether California will join 31 other states in placing the needs of children above partisan politics by opting in to a multibillion-dollar school choice program funded by private donations.

The Education Freedom Tax Credit: A Historic Win for American Families via @KeriDIngraham & @IWF@IWFEqually important, the Education Freedom Tax Credit protects school autonomy. This is not a government-funded program. Instead, taxpayers make private contributions to nonprofit scholarship granting organizations, which award scholarships to students. The funds do not pass through a federal education agency, and the program imposes no new federal mandates on participating schools."

School choice supporters should get behind reforms (by @SchoolChoiceNow's Bill Phillips for @AzCapitolTimes)
"While the ESA narrowly avoided disaster when the SOS petition failed, many of the same destructive dynamics from this past spring are likely to repeat next year. SOS will keep damaging public support for the program by treating salacious errors as the norm rather than the exception, and AZ Free Enterprise, along with others, will keep gambling with ESA students’ education by waving away fixable problems the public demands be addressed. Most troubling, private schools will again be singled out for the bulk of harmful changes.
But I believe a bipartisan deal like last year’s is still possible. And the American Federation for Children will continue to advocate for sensible reforms that protect taxpayers and students and families."

“School choice is on the ballot in Texas this November, and it's time for voters to speak up once again by electing @GovHotWheels_TX – a leader who will continue to empower families and ensure greater opportunity for the next generation of Texans.”
My Brother Finally Has School Choice. Gina Hinojosa Wants to Take It Away 👀
"...Hinojosa is promising to dismantle the program, falsely stating it’s a wealth subsidy and harms students with disabilities.
Her claims couldn’t be further from the truth. TEFA is reaching the very students it was designed to prioritize, with low-income families making up the largest income group among participants. TEFA also serves a larger share of students with disabilities than Texas public schools – more than 18% of participating students have a qualified disability."
