I read “I love you forever” with my newborn and mom in 2023. I cried. Tonight I read it for the first time since my mom passed from cancer nine months ago to my now three year old, and I cried. That children’s book absolutely wrecks me.

Have a newfound appreciation for our local media after helping fact check the SC senate debate last night. Lots of thoughts, will be an interesting 3 weeks… #scpol #senate #bts

I know South Carolina gets dogged on, but how cool is it that we have three women vying for the senate seat. And all of them have advanced degrees. With two of them that have terminal degrees.

Trump-Xi Meet

American voters are looking at things in our own backyard and trying to understand what Trump is going to do between now and the 50 days leading up to the midterms to lower the cost of living for us. I'm just not sure that he's going to be able to do that: to @akankshaswarups

I think the Taiwan issue plays a larger role in terms of whether we see any change in messaging coming out of the White House by tomorrow and the president about Taiwanese independence, the arms package, etc: @sanjeevyadavbtg

Indian Americans have achieved remarkable economic success. But has that translated into political power?

In a new column, Aditi Bussells argues it’s time to stop asking for a seat at the table—and start building political influence through votes, accountability and candidates.

“Doors don’t open. They get opened.”

Cheering for your team at a Southern school is about as American as it gets. Unless you're brown. Then it's "the problem."

Indian Americans have funded campaigns for decades. Time we started keeping score.

For decades, Indian Americans have been incredibly successful economically while remaining underpowered politically. TX is an opportunity to change that equation & make one thing clear: targeting Indian Americans for political gain shouldn’t come without a political cost.
This is the Republican nominee for statewide office. Are other Republican elected officials going to condemn the intolerance and racism, or look the other way while it becomes normalized. This is how great political parties self-destruct. Sad.

Most people doing real work in South Carolina aren’t on Twitter either!
As always: Most voters aren’t on Twitter, don’t go to political events, and aren’t activists or ideologues.

If the only people you talk to about elections are the loudest voices from any of those categories, you risk misreading the electorate.

Hot takes for the reporters coming to SC:

- Killer food options do exist outside of Charleston
- Don't ignore the mass of people who moved here post covid
- Staffing will be a blood sport
- Influencer scene is small but loud
- A lot of real info is still shared via text/phone

Dear democratic candidates and these bullshit advisors,

If you are asked yes or no questions on things such as data centers or Thanksgiving, please answer the question YES or NO! Stop giving these long winded answers saying absolutely nothing. But leaving voters thinking you stand for nothing!

You’re welcome.

Red vs. blue was never the real divide. It’s elite vs. everyday. Americans are figuring that out faster than their parties are. My next piece: 👇

Update on the jockeying to replace Sen. Lindsey Graham:
- Rep. Joe Wilson won't ask to be appointed. Unclear if he'll run for Senate.
- Rep. Nancy Mace is "strongly considering" running. She tells me she's going to poll it.
- Rep. Ralph Norman plans to talk to McMaster today.
- Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette is being encouraged to jump in, a person familiar with her thinking told me. She thinks she'd have the best shot having just gotten second in the gubernatorial race.

Democrats: We want practical leaders who can get things done.

Also Democrats: Why did you compromise with anyone ever?

The LA mayoral race is exposing a bigger problem: too many people love the idea of governing and hate the reality of it.
