I think @Shopify is the only place that AI has made me consolidate on top of. I used to use nextjs a lot on top of it, but now I just use their theme cause AI can solve most of the issues I had with it and I can exactly what I would want the theme to be.

Whenever an interviewer says to me "we want to see how your brain works without AI".
You clearly don't take AI seriously and don't understand that is how I think. To me it would be not having comments in a coding interview. I need that to organize my thoughts and move fast. Such a hamstring on good developers.

I do this as well (without it coding next to the live site, still use @vercel).
But I have a golden AWS AMI with @opencode installed and spin up AWS EC2s to do coding with tmux and some other magic.

I laugh when I see people in holding their laptops half open so their Claude Code doesn't shut off
All my projects run on a @Hetzner_Online VPS with Claude Code installed next to the sites/apps that I work on and I just SSH in with @TermiusHQ and it keeps going forever even if I disconnect (I use Mosh or Tmux or I just /resume)
My MacBook Pro battery life is also much better as everything happens on the server not my laptop
I work so incredibly fast now, it's like having a secret benefit over everyone else who are still AI coding on a laptop, then deploying to their server, while their battery life dies and they can never close their laptop
And whenever I want I can just switch to Termius on my iPhone and continue working!
My workflow is literally: I have a bug or feature, I open Termius, I type it in the project tab, it fixes it, every fix it auto commits to GitHub but it doesn't actually deploy from there anymore because it's editing the site on the server live
I don't recommend that to everyone, but I do recommend getting a VPS you can code from and then use as staging and test and deploy from there to your production server

I am always frustrated when libraries should just do one thing really well and they don't. So I ended up building a rust WASM for checking the bytes of some binary file types. It is fast and has no dependencies.

Still can't solve the traveling salesman problem...
Today @googlemaps is getting its biggest upgrade in over a decade. By combining our Gemini models with a deep understanding of the world, Maps now unlocks entirely new possibilities for how you navigate and explore. Here’s what you need to know 🧵

I just watched the wildest AI video ever! "If the software is saying it, it's legit" is the last thing you say before AI hell landscape takes over.

Got the whole team onboarded to nextjs with @honojs as the api layer inside next. It took all of 5 minutes. Most of it was not trusting this but after 5 minutes the DX was too powerful for them to say no!
Best part of the job, taking those skeptics and make them believers.

John Forte retweeted
There's a new major malware / worm / supply chain attack that affects React Native packages (among plenty of others) that my fellow RN / Expo devs should be aware of. I'll link to an article about it in the next tweet.
It's called shai-hulud 2 and it grabs env secrets from CI or your local machine and publishes public Github repos with them exposed to the world.
Some of the RN/Expo packages that were affected (non-exhaustive, won't add version # -- look it up):
actbase/css-to-react-native-transform
rn-zustand-expo-template
seung-ju/react-native-action-sheet
strapbuild/react-native-date-time-picker
strapbuild/react-native-perspective-image-cropper
strapbuild/react-native-perspective-image-cropper-poojan31
posthog-react-native
posthog-react-native-session-replay
react-native-datepicker-modal
react-native-email
react-native-fetch
react-native-get-pixel-dimensions
react-native-google-maps-directions
react-native-jam-icons
react-native-log-level
react-native-modest-checkbox
react-native-modest-storage
react-native-phone-call
react-native-retriable-fetch
react-native-use-modal
react-native-view-finder
react-native-websocket
react-native-worklet-functions
expo-audio-session
expo-router-on-rails
(probably others)
Links to more info next.
(I am not a security consultant -- just doing my best to get the word out there.)

Apple: You don't have a delete user button... **rejected**.
Me: But you don't have a subscription cancel api... sooooooooooo I just have to open this weird link. So you are forcing me to have a dark pattern offboarding flow...
Apple: Yep correct, now add the delete user button.
Me: **Added delete button and tried to make it as best I can for the user**
Apple: **Approved**

This just shows that apple has fallen, we should be able to make subscriptions as painless as possible.
