The first talk was, I believe, a massive success. I think this is going to be a really special set of evenings going forward.
We continue next week with Joss Murphy, the founder of @wygo_world, part of the team that brought Socratica to where it is today, and a Toronto local -like competition?).
If you're interested in being part of the future of the talks, let me know.

Andrew Potter is one of the clearest voices in Canada.
I look forward to reading him every single week.

If Canada has a problem getting things built, a big part of the reason can be traced to our refusal to talk about our national identity.
Here's why the ‘who are we?’ question won’t go away, from Andrew Potter. x.com/i/article/2114…

On bottlenecks: 1) economists have been exactly right about little extra growth despite very fast tech change. They thought a group of econs I organized were crazy >2 yrs ago at the AI labs when we said "1pp extra growth/yr through 2030". 2) bottlenecks *still* not understood 1/8

Epistemologists of religion learning about the atheists who are absolutely certain God exists
86% of evangelicals were absolutely certain of God's existence.
It was 61% of mainline Protestants and 30% of Jews.
26% of people who claim no religion in particular of certain of God's existence.
And even 6% of agnostics and 1% of atheists (welcome to polling data).

The majority of business men are incapable of original thinking because they are unable to escape from the tyranny of reason. Their imaginations are blocked.
I am almost incapable of logical thought, but I have developed techniques for keeping open the telephone line to my unconscious, in case that disorderly repository has anything to tell me. I hear a great deal of music.
I take long hot baths. I garden. I go into retreat among the Amish. I watch birds. I go for long walks in the country. And I take frequent vacations, so that my brain can lie fallow - no golf, no cocktail parties, no tennis, no bridge, no concentration; only a bicycle.
While thus employed in doing nothing, I receive a constant stream of telegrams from my unconscious, and these become the raw material for my advertisements.
But more is required: hard work, an open mind, and ungovernable curiosity

I'm giving a talk next Thursday.
For anyone who came to the discussion a while back on tacit knowledge, in some ways this is a continuation of that conversation. An update on what I've been researching and thinking about in the interim.
I would love to see you there.
