i obsessed about how to go viral for the past four years
we’ve crossed a few juvenile redlines like putting boobs on people we shouldn’t have (not doing that again) but in general we’ve tried to play the game clean and clever
there’s a much to improve
> platforming good work
> h something to say
> bigger, bolder ideas (does anyone know @GordonRamsay btw? i have a dumb idea)
> more cameos with fresher faces
> better writing across the board
> ai gen r&d
> fresh segments
> clipping strategy
how the fk did i get here? i launched solana’s first yield bearing stablecoin with my best friends. now i’m working with a team of 12 creatives producing shows and writing commercials.
wat?
speaking of ‘wat’…
i’ve been asking myself…
> can we be more useful? what’s le 2027 plan?
> how do we do right by our partners? are they happy?
> can we break out of our echo chamber? solana to mainstream. shows?
> should we buy a television station? what does that cost? will regs fk us?
> is it okay to be entertaining for the sake of being entertaining? does it _always_ have to be deeper than that? is there room to be frivolous? can i just laugh please?
> how do we give our people opportunities they can’t get anywhere else?
> how do i convince @smbennyy to stop humiliating me in our videos?
> will @simonmolitor ever take a break?
> is @cavemanvideo allergic to compliments?
just rambling
oh also, i learned how to go viral (kinda)

taught me everything i know
Wonseok Baek, Head of Group, North America at Samsung Wallet, on why @Samsung chose Solana
"We looked at what our users needed: infrastructure with fast settlement, low transaction costs and the capacity to support growing use cases. There's no question Solana is a strong fit."

my journey to solana started with samsung on the wallet team in korea hq
our division head @itrainrhee completed a 250m acquisition of @wgraylin’s looppay for their MST (magnetic secure transmission) tech. MST used magnetic waves to stream L1 & L2 card data to the POS read head. conto nfc required. over 95% coverage from day one. when we tested the tech the cashiers thought we were hacking their terminals. worked like magic.
that tech became the basis for samsung pay.
i hopped around a lot. first marketing. then project management. and finally the USA taskforce. i did janitor work for closing deals with banks and card networks. redlining contracts, negotiating with compliance officers, and peppering the samsung research america team with security reviews.
chase. bank of america. us bank. mastercard. visa. we closed them all like dominos. just in time for the launch of the note 5 in new york.
i learned from the best deal makers. sang ahn, haley kim, and ws baek. they taught me to backchannel. beg. bully. bribe. whatever it took. i still carry those lessons with me. i owe my career (and working discipline) to them.
after the launch in manhattan i somehow got dragged into an exec closing party with jk shin and got absolutely shitfaced. i ended up in a chinese nail salon getting a foot massage and eating greasy $1 slices of cheese pizza. one of the happiest moments of my life. always chasing that high.
our 10 person team exploded to over 300 in a year. samsung pay was launched in over 15 countries. after 8 long years i decided to attend my first @hackerhouses and the rest is history.
you can’t throw a rock in korean crypto and fintech without hitting a samsung pay alum. toss, kakao, naver, payment processors, and all the banks.
fond memories! it was fun calling up the old gang together in seoul to host a few dinners with solana earlier this year. was fun seeing the two worlds collide.
i make early bets on people because i had of kind mentors who took a bet on me.
trillions.

one word
so does @world_xyz
if this is right, eno is ... a genius

my only complaint about @SMBennyy as my replacement for the ecosystem call is that he tried too hard to look korean
