This brings back fond memories - one of the first south American pieces I learned as a child. The rhythm intrigued me. Playing this outdoors, it even attracted a little dog ! The piece is Vals Venezolano No. 3. I also made a studio recording of this on Guitar Favourites.

BTD, the devil of the violin, Paganini. Did you know he also played guitar? He wrote this piece for the two instruments he played. With Ning Feng on violin at @NCPAChina

A clip from a live performance of Leo Brouwer’s ‘Hika’ - an elegy for his friend, the great Japanese composer Tōru Takemitsu who was born this day in 1930. I feel a great affinity to this piece and love performing it.

Claude Debussy had a unique ability to turn music into light, colour and emotion..
On his birthday, I’m sharing ‘La fille aux cheveux de lin’
It is music of warmth, simplicity and quiet contemplation. And, as it turns out, those gentle qualities feel at home on the guitar.

BTD, the Brazilian guitarist Baden Powell.🎸
He was a relatively late discovery for me, but one that's become more rewarding over time.
Sharing a favourite memory from a live performance of his Cidade Vazia at NCPA - we had a great time bringing this piece to life on stage.

Remembering the great Spanish pianist and composer Granados on the anniversary of his birth. Here's a rehearsal clip of my arrangement of his Zapateado - challenging to play but very worthwhile. Granados - a remarkable musician and a lasting legacy. 🎹🇪🇸

A little glimpse from yesterday's rehearsal...
what I love about this programme for @Frome_Festival is that there's something for both the ears and the eyes: wonderful guitar music, powerful dance, and colourful costumes that reflect the changing moods of the music.
