🧵🧵🧵Effective 10/21/2024, I will no longer be posting new content to my X accounts. I cannot, in good conscience, by maintaining those accounts, support a platform that has become so full of division and hate.

This has not been an easy decision, as this is the platform where I hold the most followers. I stayed as long as I could, hoping to be a light where there's dark. But I can't be light on a platform where impressions have dropped to nothing.

So, I will go where I can still try to do some good. If you've enjoyed my content, please follow me elsewhere. I will be prioritizing Threads and LinkedIn.

Statistically, X is a massive source of disinformation (tech.co/news/x-worst-p…), and has poor safety ratings for at-risk communities (mashable.com/article/x-movi…). The latest changes to privacy blocking, combined with what I see happening politically, are the last straw.

I wish Mr. Musk the best, but just as he has the right to operate X as he wants, I have the right to take my participation on social media elsewhere. I choose to take it to places where the values of truth, civil discourse, and safety still matter.

This is like my calling card. I also forget to turn the oven off. In my house, we call it "pulling a Wanda."

On World #MentalHealth Day, I remind you that being #triggered doesn't mean something upsets you. It means you psychologically, emotionally, and physically respond as if what you previously experienced is happening again. Let's learn the science and stop abusing the word.

Fun fact -- in addition to writing, I compose. I might do it badly, but I have 100s of scores in this program. This is an example of a dark side of technology. I'm heartbroken.
